You will help build a carefully assessed network of specialist advisers and service providers supporting individuals and families with complex needs.This opportunity may particularly appeal to someone from investigative journalism, long-form profile journalism, corporate intelligence, due diligence or executive referencing who enjoys meeting people, following evidence and producing thoughtful written assessments.The opportunityThe institution needs to understand how prospective partners actually work: their judgement, integrity, quality of service and commitment to clients. Your work will help determine which providers should join the network and where further investigation is needed.Your conversations will span medical and education specialists, lawyers, private bankers and other professional-services and corporate advisers. You will need the intellectual range to understand unfamiliar subjects quickly, ask informed questions and recognise where specialist advice is required.You will spend meaningful time meeting prospective partners and speaking with people who know their work. Alongside those conversations, you will conduct research, assess the reliability of different sources and produce concise recommendations supported by evidence.The role combines independent assessment with the care required to build relationships that may last for years. Success will depend on the quality of your judgement, the strength of your evidence and the trust you earn.What you will doIdentify and research prospective specialist advisers and service providers.Arrange and conduct thoughtful interviews with providers, peers, former colleagues and other relevant sources.Build rapport with senior and sometimes guarded people while asking precise follow-up questions.Check claims against independent accounts, identify conflicts or gaps, and pursue the evidence needed to reach a balanced view.Write clear assessments against an agreed framework, distinguishing verified facts, source opinions and your own conclusions.Recommend whether a provider should join the network, requires further assessment or should be declined.Maintain accurate, confidential records so colleagues can understand and challenge the reasoning behind each assessment.Build and sustain professional relationships while preserving independent judgement.Consult subject specialists where technical expertise is needed.What you will bringA strong academic background, with clear evidence of rigorous analysis, research and excellent written communication.Intellectual curiosity and the ability to absorb complex information, test assumptions and explain your reasoning clearly.Demonstrable experience gathering information through interviews and independent sources.Evidence of turning incomplete or conflicting information into clear written conclusions.Confidence speaking with senior professionals, business owners and advisers.Warmth, curiosity, discretion and careful listening.Confidence engaging senior experts while remaining approachable, open to correction and willing to acknowledge the limits of your knowledge.The confidence to challenge an impressive reputation and deliver an unwelcome finding when the evidence warrants it.Resourcefulness in finding the people who can provide meaningful insight.An appetite for regular in-person meetings and practical investigative work.An understanding of sensitive client relationships and the ability to learn unfamiliar specialist fields.Relevant experience could come from journalism, corporate intelligence, due diligence, investigative research, executive referencing or a family-office role involving independent provider assessment.
