About OMB LabsOMB Labs is the research and intelligence function of OMB Group, a private multi-sector group operating across the UK, Europe and the Middle East. The function exists to identify and assess the catalysts that affect each of the group's businesses before they happen. Research here feeds decisions directly.The roleYou produce research across the function's five workstreams: group-wide risk assessment, analytical studies, investment research, risk management and long-term sustainability. Day to day:Data gathering, screening and analysis on FactSet, our primary data platformResearch notes written to our house standard: conclusion first, every figure traceable to a primary source, clear about the limits of the dataPrimary-source verification as a working habit: filed accounts, registers, regulators, official statisticsMaintaining the risk register, task log and monitoring feedsCommissioned studies and ad-hoc research for the function's sponsorsYou work to a directed research agenda and run commissions with increasing independence as you settle in. The function is growing, and there is genuine room to take on more senior research responsibility as it does.Requirements2 to 3 years or more producing written research or analysis in a professional setting: sell-side or buy-side research, consultancy, economic or policy research, corporate strategy, or credit and risk analysisExamples of research you have personally produced, which we will discuss at interviewExperience with a professional financial data platform (FactSet, Bloomberg, Refinitiv, Capital IQ or similar) is preferred; full FactSet training is providedStrong Excel and data handling; statistical tooling a plusClear, plain written English and comfort moving between unfamiliar industriesCare with confidential material; confidentiality terms form part of the contractWhat we offerSalary of £35,000 - £42,000 depending on experienceEmployer pension contributionPrivate health insuranceTravel allowanceHybrid working from our London baseFull FactSet training and access to a professional research platformTo applyIf this sounds like the kind of work you want to be doing, we would like to hear from you.
