LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY PLEASE!Design, execute, record, analyze and document cultivation and fermentation experiments across multipleplatforms, including 96-well plates and shake-flasks, and occasionally bioreactorsExecute optimization studies — media development, growth and productivity studies, condition screens —with increasing independence, and troubleshoot experiments that don't behave as expectedDevelop and refine standard operating procedures (SOPs) for new and existing workflowsPrepare, sterilize and optimize growth media, buffers and reagentsPerform routine analytics and sample handling in support of cultivation experiments (e.g. OD and growth measurements, sampling, sample preparation and submission)Analyze and present experimental results clearly, and record work to a standard that lets others reproduce itCollaborate cross-functionally with associates, scientists and engineers to ensure reproducibility, scalability and process robustnessMaintain laboratory organization, equipment readiness, and inventory of consumablesREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Bioengineering,Microbiology, Chemical Engineering or a relatedfield, with 2+ years of relevant experienceStrong hands-on experience with cell culture,fermentation, or microbial systemsExperience independently designing, executing andtroubleshooting optimization experiments (e.g.media development, growth studies)Comfort with aseptic technique, media and bufferpreparation, and routine laboratory analyticsStrong attention to detail, organization, anddocumentation practicesEffective communicator with the ability to clearlypresent experimental results and insightsNICE TO HAVEExperience with high-throughput or microtiterplatecultivation and associated data handlingExperience with benchtop bioreactors or aninterest in growing into bioreactor workExperience with data analysis tools such asPython, R or JMPFamiliarity with electronic lab notebooks and LIMSor inventory systemsKEY COMPETENCIESLaboratory safety and chemical hygieneCareful, reproducible execution andclear documentationClear communication with technical and nontechnicalstakeholdersAbility to work in laboratory environment
