It is a dedicated hub examining and addressing the complex world of geopolitics, global strategy, and international relations.The Center of Geopolitics and Strategic Studies is accepting applications for the role of a Research Assistant/ Associate.The Research Assistant/ Associate will report directly to the respective Fellow/ Associate Fellow and is expected to lead initiatives; conduct, publish, and promote in-depth, high quality public policy research in areas of their expertise; convene public and private events; engage with a wide range of stakeholders; and work on policy-relevant publications.RESEARCH AREAS (All in Context of India)Key Responsibilities:Conduct research on India’s maritime strategy, security, ports and shipping.Track geopolitical, naval, and maritime developments in India and globally.Develop and maintain in-depth expertise in a specific policy area including geopolitical shifts, emerging powers, regional conflicts, and global security issues.Conduct in-depth research on Indian maritime strategy, maritime security, naval affairs, ports, shipping, blue economy, and ocean governance.Monitor developments in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR), Indo-Pacific, and India’s maritime neighbourhood.Analyse geopolitical, strategic, economic, and security developments affecting India’s maritime interests.Track policies and activities of major maritime powers, including China, the US, and regional actors.Research issues related to Indian Navy, Coast Guard, maritime domain awareness, sea lines of communication, and naval modernisation.Produce scholarly publications, policy papers, and opinion pieces.Provide expert commentary and analysis on geopolitical and strategic issues.Publish extensively in leading journals and contribute to public discourseLead meetings, conferences and conduct cutting-edge research, producing regular knowledge reports which include papers, briefs, books, journals and publications.Develop and advocate for evidence-based policy recommendations, influencing decision-makers and driving positive change.Synthesize large amounts of information, perform qualitative analysis, and report results to diverse audiences.Qualifications and SkillsMaster’s degree, preferably in Political Science, International, Defence/Strategic Studies, Maritime Studies or a similar field with a strong focus on geopolitics.1-3 Years of work experience in relevant fields.Understanding of global power dynamics, regional conflicts, and international political frameworks.Strong research and analytical skills with attention to detail. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Proficiency in data analysis tools and research software.Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).Ability to work as part of a team as well as on own initiative.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Strong interpersonal skills and team ethics.WHAT WE OFFERExposure to policy relevant, high impact researchA collaborative and intellectually stimulating work environmentA clear pathway for growth into more senior research roles
