Apply & track with Apply EdgeDescriptionThe Research Assistant will aid and report to the Senior Research Scientist and be responsible for conducting experiments in AyuVis' laboratories, completing those studies on time, and ensuring that records of these studies comply with company policy. In addition, the Research Assistant shall be responsible for the day-to-day management of the AyuVis Research laboratory as instructed by the Senior Research Scientist. This position needs an applicant with core skills in one or multiple of the following disciplines: molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, or microbiology. The ideal candidate will have outstanding verbal and written skills, be a team player, a self-starter, have a focus-driven work ethic, and the ability to work independently with sufficient instruction. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Perform primary and immortalized cell maintenance and studies, including culturing and maintaining cell lines, cytotoxicity assays, cytokine and chemokine assays, cell differentiation studies, and compound screening. 2. Perform and assist in protein cytokine quantification, including ELISA from cellular, animal tissue, and serum samples.3. Perform and assist in protein purification and separation via Western Blot and PAGE analysis.4. Perform and assist in cell differentiation and receptor studies via flow cytometry and FACS analysis.5. Conduct microbiology assays, grow and maintain bacterial colonies, and conduct CFU and MIC studies.6. Maintain lab notebooks and company research databases.7. Maintain lab inventory, including chemical reagents, compounds, cell lines, and supplies.8. Aid the Senior Research Scientist is intern training and new lab members.9. Meet daily/weekly with the supervisor to review research results and coordinate resource utilization.10. Think innovatively and present new ideas with the proper rationale to support AyuVis’ pipeline research.11. Assist in developing a study plan, data interpretation, report writing, and manuscript/grant application preparation.12. Perform literature searches and retain information to apply to current pipeline research.
Required Skills
1. Ability to conduct background research on a project utilizing methods and techniques from the scientific literature.2. Ability to have attention to detail and focus-driven research.3. Ability to grow primary and transgenic cells/cell lines and conduct relevant studies.4. Familiar with methods and procedures for primary cell culture and aseptic techniques. 5. Ability to follow and conduct molecular biology protocols such as cell proliferation, cell death, RT-PCR, FACS, Western Blot, and ELISA assays.6. Ability to use databases and scientific software relevant to searching and analyzing data.7. Ability to design and manage electronic records of company-generated data.8. Ability to present company research results at internal meetings.9. Experience in writing/reviewing research reports and scientific manuscripts.10. Ability to produce graphs and figures from raw data and experimental values
Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor's (B.S.) or Master's Degree in Science (M.S.) in biological science with 1-2 years of laboratory benchtop experience with Required Skills: 4,5, and 10 (must-haves).2. Knowledge of Microsoft Suite programs and GraphPad.3. History of focus-driven and passion in research.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Master's Degree in Biological Science (Thesis) (M.S.) with 1-2 years of laboratory benchtop experience. This can include work during thesis and graduate work.2. Animal study experience is a plus.3. Primary or middle authorship on a paper/s is another big plus.
