To help patients.Position SummaryThe TD2 Research Associate III - In Vitro Pharmacology plays a vital role in many aspects of the lab’s operations including providing leadership and execution of tissue culture activities, various cell-based assays, and molecular biology experiments. This position collaborates closely with Vivarium staff to support the successful execution of in vivo pharmacology experiments. This role also participates in protocol discussion and planning activities ensuring the successful execution of study objectives. The position shows detailed understanding of research techniques and cell line performance while working independently on In Vitro Pharmacology tasks while maintaining great attention to detail while working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.Essential Functions Primarily responsible for tissue culture activities, including but not limited to thawing cell lines, passaging and general cell culture tasks. Works directly with vendors and suppliers to develop and troubleshoot new and existing assays, procedures and cell lines. Assist laboratory management in assigning tissue culture and other daily activities such as ensuring availability of reagents and media and quality standards. Oversee the quality and integrity of the tissue culture banks. Routinely provides training and mentoring to junior team members. Provides technical input on protocol execution. Executes additional laboratory techniques such as Flow cytometry, Western Blots, Elisa, qPCR, or other molecular biology techniques as needed. Participate in the development of new assays, as needed. Creation and maintenance of laboratory records and appropriate laboratory documentation. Independent collection and assessment of data. Provides a summary of results as appropriate and/or discuss findings with laboratory management. Participate in weekly lab meetings by updating the department on progress, results, and future studies. Ensures lab equipment is operational and actively schedules preventive maintenance or services as needed. Performs general laboratory duties. Assists in other laboratory duties as assigned.Job Requirements A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years direct in vitro pharmacology experience or 6 years direct cell culture experience with no degree required. Experience in tissue culture techniques and other in vitro cell based assays is required. Immunology assays experience is preferred.Required Specialized/Technical Skills Ability to execute procedures and studies with minimal to no supervision. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in the use of Microsoft applications and data analysis software. Excellent time management and organizational skills. Periodic weekend/holiday shifts. Strong attention to detail. Highly organized.
