Research Engineer / Scientist

About the RoleWe are looking for an exceptional Research Engineer / Research Scientist with experience or demonstrated potential in frontier AI research to join an early-stage, highly technical team.This role will focus on pushing the boundaries of human intent understanding, computer use, and agentic AI. You will own ambitious research initiatives end to end, from developing hypotheses and building datasets to model training, evaluation, and deployment.The research agenda spans reinforcement learning, post-training, multimodal learning, and continual learning, with a particular focus on developing long-horizon autonomous agents capable of understanding user behavior, making decisions, and proactively completing complex tasks.This is an opportunity to join at an early stage and have significant influence over both the research roadmap and technical architecture. We are open to candidates across experience levels, from recent PhD graduates with strong research and internship experience to senior researchers who have led major initiatives or teams at leading AI labs.What You'll Be DoingRun experiments and train frontier AI models focused on human judgment, computer use, intent understanding, and representation learning.Post-train LLMs and multimodal agents using reinforcement learning, continual learning, and related techniques.Develop models capable of performing long-horizon, autonomous computer-based tasks.Work with large-scale screen recording, interaction, and behavioral datasets to develop systems that learn how individual users work and can proactively automate tasks.Design and execute rigorous research experiments to improve the underlying models powering autonomous agent capabilities.Develop evaluation frameworks and benchmarks to measure model performance, reliability, and agent behavior.Translate promising research ideas into scalable systems that can ultimately be deployed in production environments.Own research projects across the full lifecycle, including hypothesis development, data strategy, experimentation, model training, evaluation, and deployment.Collaborate closely with a small, highly technical founding team to determine which research directions have the greatest potential.Help define the organization's research roadmap, technical architecture, and long-term approach to agentic AI.What We're Looking ForPhD, Master's, or equivalent research experience in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a closely related field.Strong foundation in modern deep learning and experience training or researching large-scale neural networks.Experience in one or more of the following areas:Reinforcement LearningLLM Post-TrainingMultimodal ModelsContinual LearningAgentic AI / Autonomous AgentsComputer Use AgentsRepresentation LearningHuman Preference or Behavioral ModelingStrong experimental instincts and the ability to take an ambiguous research question from idea through implementation and evaluation.Experience designing datasets, training models, and developing rigorous evaluation methodologies.Strong programming skills, particularly in Python and modern machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or JAX.Ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving, research-driven environment with significant ownership and limited structure.The salary for this position is between 300-475k + Equity
