Its work focuses on developing scalable solutions that address issues in the economy, politics, racism, culture, and identity across Europe.Role Description This is a full-time Research Officer role based in Berlin. The Research Officer will design and conduct qualitative and quantitative research projects related to Roma communities, European policy, and broader social, economic, and cultural issues. The role includes data collection, analysis, and synthesis from multiple sources, as well as drafting research briefs, policy papers, reports, and presentations for internal and external audiences. The Research Officer will collaborate closely with advocacy, policy, and communications teams to ensure research informs campaigns, strategic decisions, and stakeholder engagement. Daily tasks also include monitoring relevant European and national policy developments, maintaining research databases, participating in meetings and events, and engaging with partner organizations, experts, and community representatives.QualificationsStrong research and analytical skills, including the ability to design studies, review literature, and interpret complex information.Proficiency in statistics and quantitative methods, including working with datasets and using statistical or data analysis tools.Excellent report writing and communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise, and accessible research outputs for diverse audiences.Experience translating research findings into practical recommendations for advocacy, policy, or program design.Relevant academic background, preferably a master’s degree in social sciences, public policy, economics, statistics, human rights, or a related field.Knowledge of European institutions, human rights frameworks, and issues affecting Roma communities or other marginalized groups is highly desirable.Ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural, mission-driven team and to manage multiple projects and deadlines independently.Fluency in English (written and spoken); additional European languages, especially those widely spoken by Roma communities, are an asset.Strong ethical standards in research, including respect for data protection, informed consent, and community participation.
