LocationRemote – Applicants from Europe or Asia region only due to need for collaborative working and time zones.About the roleConscium’s neuromorphic team does cutting-edge applied AI research. We’re exploring whether brain-inspired techniques can make AI systems more adaptive, efficient, and robust than today’s standard architectures. This role is for someone who wants to turn promising research ideas into working systems with real-world impact. We’re looking for an outstanding research scientist to join our team.A research scientist on our team combines both theory and application. Successful candidates have a deep theoretical knowledge of the principles of AI including deep learning and language modeling. They can practically apply this knowledge to create real systems with commercial impact. What you'll work onTranslational Research. Finding, adapting, or inventing brain-inspired AI methods to solve real problems.Model Development. Processing data, training, and deployment of both standard and novel (e.g., brain-inspired) AI models.Software Development. Building our models into products including by writing robust, clean code, tests, and doing code review. What we're looking forYou do not need to be a neuromorphic expert, but you do need to have a strong general knowledge of modern AI and the practical skills to build and deploy models. This is an applied AI research role, not a hardware role.RequiredA relevant PhD or equivalent experience in AI.Evidence of strong research skills including high-impact publications or equivalent industry research outputs in a relevant field.Evidence of success training AI models.Strong programming skills in at least one language (Python preferred).Experience with some deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, JAX, TensorFlow).Working knowledge of software development fundamentals including version control, code review, and testing.Nice to havePython software development experience including modern tooling (type checking, linting, dependency management).Experience scaling language models or other large models.Experience deploying models for training and inference on cloud infrastructure (e.g, AWS, GCP) using distributed compute. What success looks like30 days: You have landed initial research docs and/or PRs90 days: You own a research project and associated code6 months: You are making high-level contributions to our direction as a teamWhy ConsciumWork at the cutting-edge of applied AI research, exploring brain-inspired techniques for adaption, efficiency and robustness in AI.Real ownership as an early research scientist, not a cog in a large machine.Direct involvement from concept to production, working directly with global leaders in the field.A senior team of global leaders in the field of Neuromorphics and AICompetitive Salary, remote working and the potential for options.
