Due to the rapid expending of our business, we currently have a new opening: Research Scientist (Mammalian Proteins)Role DescriptionThis position is for a research scientist with expertise in DNA cloning, mammalian protein expression and biochemical / cell biology assay development. We seek an innovative and eager scientist with a strong desire and ability to learn a wide-ranging and highly technical skillset, and potentially apply that skillset towards scientific creativity downstream. The position will be a key role in our R&D group and have critical impact on program progress throughout the drug discovery and development process.Responsibilities:DNA cloning and mammalian protein expression. Design constructs for expression in bacterial, insect, and mammalian cells to produce high quality recombinant proteins and protein complexes.Design display libraries and carry out binder identification screens and use library design to produce insights into compound binding and mechanism of action.Purify and characterize recombinant proteins to enable high throughput assays, biophysical assays, and structural efforts.Development and execution of both biochemical and cell-based assays for functional characterization of proteins Prepare internally reviewed technical reports, make oral presentations to scientists and management, and publish/patent externally.Required Skills and Experience:PhD/MS degree in recombinant protein chemistry, biochemistry, or a related scientific field with 1-5+ years of directly relevant laboratory experience in DNA cloning and protein expression.Expertise in protein purification workflows and experience from R&D through pre-clinical development preferred.Experience with small-format, engineered protein binders (Darpins, affibodies, VHH, etc.) is of interest.Detail-oriented and capable of identifying and solving scientific problems.Effective and collaborative cross-functional team member in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment.Additional experience in protein conjugation/purification/analytics is a desirableScienCell is committed to equal opportunity employment.
