Job SummaryWe are looking for an experienced Resident Engineer – DNS / DHCP / IPAM to provide technical expertise for the deployment, configuration, optimization, and ongoing support of enterprise DNS infrastructure, with additional responsibility for DHCP and IP Address Management (IPAM) solutions.The primary focus of this role will be on DNS architecture, administration, troubleshooting, performance optimization, and high availability, ensuring reliable and secure name resolution services across enterprise and critical environments.Key Responsibilities- Design, deploy, configure, and administer enterprise DNS infrastructure and services.- Manage authoritative and recursive DNS servers, including internal and external DNS environments.- Configure and maintain DNS zones, records, forwarders, delegations, and DNS policies.- Implement and manage Primary/Secondary DNS, zone transfers, and DNS replication.- Troubleshoot complex DNS issues including: - Name resolution failures - DNS latency and performance issues - Zone transfer failures - Delegation and forwarding issues - DNS configuration and connectivity problems- Monitor DNS infrastructure performance, availability, and capacity.- Perform DNS health checks, root-cause analysis, and performance optimization.- Support DNS security best practices, including secure zone transfers, access controls, DNS hardening, and protection against common DNS-based attacks.- Work with Active Directory DNS and enterprise identity infrastructure where applicable.- Support DNS integration with network, security, cloud, and application environments.- Plan and execute DNS changes, migrations, upgrades, and configuration activities with minimal service disruption.- Maintain DNS documentation, architecture diagrams, configurations, and operational procedures.- Provide L2/L3 technical support and resolve critical DNS incidents within agreed SLAs.- Support the deployment and administration of DHCP and IPAM solutions.- Configure and maintain DHCP scopes, reservations, options, leases, and high-availability configurations.- Maintain IP address spaces, subnets, DNS/DHCP relationships, and IPAM records.- Coordinate with Network, Security, Infrastructure, and Application teams to resolve cross-platform issues.- Provide technical recommendations for improving the reliability, scalability, and security of DNS/DHCP/IPAM services.Required Technical Skills- Strong hands-on experience in Enterprise DNS administration and troubleshooting.- Strong understanding of: - DNS architecture and protocols - DNS record types (A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, NS, PTR, TXT, SRV) - Forward and Reverse DNS - DNS zones and delegations - Recursive vs. authoritative DNS - DNS forwarding and conditional forwarding - Zone transfers (AXFR/IXFR) - DNS caching and TTL - DNSSEC concepts- Experience with Microsoft DNS / Active Directory-integrated DNS.- Experience with enterprise DNS/IPAM platforms such as Infoblox, BlueCat, or equivalent is highly desirable.- Good understanding of DHCP and IPAM technologies.- Strong networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, UDP, VLANs, routing, and subnetting.- Experience troubleshooting DNS using tools such as nslookup, dig, DNS logs, packet captures/Wireshark, and monitoring platforms.- Experience with DNS monitoring, logging, alerting, and capacity management.- Understanding of DNS security and hardening practices.Qualifications & Experience- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, or a related field.- 5+ years of hands-on experience in DNS infrastructure, with strong enterprise DNS exposure.- Experience supporting large-scale and business-critical DNS environments.- Experience in DNS/DHCP/IPAM deployment, migration, and ongoing operations.- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.- Ability to work independently as a Resident Engineer and coordinate effectively with customer technical teams.- Relevant certifications such as Infoblox, BlueCat, Microsoft, Cisco, or other networking certifications are an advantage.Key FocusDNS is the primary focus of this position, with responsibility for ensuring the availability, reliability, security, and performance of enterprise DNS services. DHCP and IPAM will be managed as complementary components of the overall DDI infrastructure.
