Role OverviewThe RMO will act as a key clinical and communication link between patients, families, consultants and the clinic/hospital team.The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of gastrointestinal and colorectal conditions, excellent communication skills, sound clinical judgement and the ability to counsel patients and families with empathy and professionalism.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct patient assessments, take medical histories and maintain accurate clinical records.Assess common gastrointestinal and colorectal complaints and identify clinical red flags requiring escalation.Assist Gastroenterologists and Colorectal Surgeons during consultations, procedures and patient management.Review investigations and coordinate specialist consultations, treatment plans and follow-ups.Explain conditions, investigations and treatment options clearly to patients and their families.Coordinate pre-operative investigations, admissions and other requirements with consultants and hospital teams.Monitor post-operative patients, identify warning signs and assist with wound, stoma and discharge care.Follow up with patients regarding investigations, consultations and recommended treatments.Ensure timely communication and deliver a professional, empathetic and high-quality patient experience.QualificationsMBBS with valid medical registration and a minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical experience.Strong working knowledge of gastrointestinal and colorectal conditions.Experience in Gastroenterology, Colorectal Surgery, General Surgery or a multispecialty hospital is preferred.Prior experience working with Gastroenterologists or Colorectal Surgeons is strongly preferred.Strong patient assessment, clinical documentation and follow-up skills.Excellent spoken English and confident patient communication skills.Ability to counsel patients and families with empathy and clarity.
