Company Description Association De Sering is a community-focused hospitality & culture initiative that uses food to rebuild and strengthen social bonds. As the largest community kitchen in the Netherlands, the organisation creates resilient food systems and inclusive urban spaces where people can connect and collaborate. De Sering operates locations such as De Sering West & Centraal and TestTafel, an experimental, 100% plant-based fine-dining kitchen that reimagines sustainable hospitality. Beyond its physical venues, De Sering acts as a strategic educational consultant for organisations across Europe (and beyond), sharing knowledge to support collective action. Rooted in activism and powered by a growing volunteer community, the association is dedicated to making “home” a shared, collective experience. Role Description Sering West, Sering Centraal and TestTafel together serve thousands of meals each week, host a wide range of events, cater for activist gatherings and run a fine-dining restaurant. The organisation is growing fast: more space, guests, volunteers, staff, and a constant stream of new ideas. Our 3 location managers face new challenges every week, while the day-to-day has to keep running smoothly. Would you like to support them and see what we do from the inside? And are you ready for real responsibility with real impact?If so, our Location Management Internship may be a great fit for you.You work alongside the location manager at one of our two locations: Sering Centraal/TestTafel on the Dijksgracht, or Sering West on the Rhoneweg in Sloterdijk. You are involved in everything it takes to run the place; thus, hospitality experience/enthusiasm is a big plus. Cultural and project management experience are also valued.This will include:- Help with marketing, promotion and outreach for the location- Help organise and facilitate events- Answer questions from guests, handle enquiries about events and large groups, and field offers from suppliers (admin)- Run and coordinate projects with the location's and central office staff and our volunteer community- Take part in, and lead, the meetings and discussions that shape and steer the organisation (Association De Sering & TestTafel Foundation)This is a broad and flexible internship. The exact tasks and focus can, to a certain extent, be shaped around your interests, skills and learning goals. Helping us keep daily operations running well is the constant, and what we are looking for.Skills/Areas of InterestFood Service and Customer Service skills, with the ability to support a high-quality, community-oriented guest experience.Communication skills for coordinating with kitchen, service teams, volunteers, and guests.Basic people-management support skills, including assisting with volunteer or staff recruitment and onboarding.Strong organisational and time-management abilities, especially in a fast-paced hospitality environment.Interest in activism, community building, and sustainable food systems.Ability to work on-site in Amsterdam at either of our locations (chosen as we see fit for you), including occasional evenings or weekends as needed.Previous experience in hospitality, restaurants, or community projects is an advantage but not strictly required.
