Located on Poplar Avenue, the restaurant is known for authentic Ethiopian cuisine, including freshly prepared dishes and traditional injera. The team uses hand-blended spices to create distinctive flavors that reflect Ethiopian culinary traditions. Abyssinia focuses on warm, welcoming hospitality and aims to bring people together over shared meals in a friendly, inclusive environment.Role Description The Restaurant Server role is a full-time, on-site position based at Abyssinia Memphis Restaurant in Memphis, TN. The Restaurant Server will greet guests, present menus, answer questions about dishes and ingredients, and provide attentive table service from order taking through payment processing. Daily responsibilities include serving food and beverages, coordinating with the kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate orders, and maintaining a clean, organized dining area. The Restaurant Server will also help set up and break down the dining room, support takeout orders as needed, and follow all health, safety, and cleanliness standards. The role requires a strong focus on guest experience, respectful communication, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.Qualifications Strong skills in Food Service and Food & Beverage operations.Demonstrated Customer Service and Communication abilities with diverse guests.Basic Food Preparation knowledge and understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.Ability to stand for extended periods, carry trays safely, and move efficiently in a busy restaurant setting.Previous serving or hospitality experience preferred; experience with Ethiopian or international cuisine is a plus.Reliable attendance, punctuality, and the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.Team-oriented mindset, professional demeanor, and commitment to respectful, inclusive service for all guests and colleagues.
