THE ROLESimpcw Resources Group is seeking an experienced Retail and Food Services Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our retail market, food truck, and future café operations. This role will provide operational leadership, staff development, financial accountability, and customer experience oversight while supporting the organization's vision for growth and community engagement.Reporting to the Executive Leadership Team, the Retail and Food Services Manager will provide leadership and support to both the Market Lead and Food Truck Lead, ensuring strong collaboration across all areas of the business. The successful candidate will be a hands-on leader who thrives in a customer-focused environment, builds strong teams, drives operational excellence, and ensures the business delivers exceptional service, quality, and financial performance.QUALIFICATIONSPost-secondary education in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, Retail Management, Food Service Management, or a related field.Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience in retail, food service, hospitality, grocery, produce, café, restaurant, food truck, or similar environments.Demonstrated experience leading, coaching, and developing employees and supervisors.Strong experience with scheduling, workforce planning, and operational management.Proven experience managing inventory, cash controls, budgets, labour costs, and operational performance.Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.Experience implementing operational improvements and leading teams through change.Experience working with local suppliers, producers, vendors, and community partners is considered an asset.Experience working with Indigenous communities is considered an asset.Food Safe Certification, or willingness to obtain.RESPONSIBILITIESLeadership & OperationsProvide overall leadership and operational oversight for the retail market, food truck operations, and future café.Implement operational priorities, objectives, and initiatives established by the Executive Leadership Team.Maintain a strong visible presence throughout the operation and actively support day-to-day activities as required.Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, teamwork, safety, and customer service excellence.Monitor operational performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, service delivery, and profitability.Ensure all business areas operate consistently and in alignment with company standards and expectations.Support organizational initiatives, growth projects, facility improvements, and future expansion plans.Team Leadership & DevelopmentProvide direct leadership, coaching, mentoring, and performance management to the Market Lead and Food Truck Lead.Foster strong collaboration and communication between retail and food service teams.Recruit, hire, onboard, train, develop, and retain team members.Conduct regular performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.Address performance concerns, employee relations matters, and workplace issues in a timely and professional manner.Promote a positive, respectful, and inclusive workplace culture.Support succession planning and employee development opportunities.Scheduling & Workforce PlanningDevelop and oversee staffing schedules for all areas of the business.Work closely with the Market Lead and Food Truck Lead to coordinate staffing levels, vacation requests, and operational coverage.Ensure adequate leadership and supervisory coverage is maintained during evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak operating periods.Ensure employees are appropriately supported and supervised during all operating hours.Prevent situations where young or inexperienced employees are left to independently manage operations without appropriate oversight.Monitor labour costs and staffing requirements to ensure operational effectiveness while maintaining budget expectations.Ensure scheduling practices comply with employment standards and company policies.Retail Market OperationsCollaborate closely with the Market Lead to support the day-to-day operation of the retail market.Ensure high standards of merchandising, product presentation, cleanliness, and customer service.Monitor inventory levels, ordering practices, product quality, and stock rotation.Analyze sales trends and product performance to optimize product offerings and minimize waste.Support promotional activities, seasonal displays, and special events that enhance the customer experience.Ensure the market remains welcoming, organized, and reflective of the organization's values and brand.Food Services OperationsCollaborate closely with the Food Truck Lead to ensure food service operations are efficient, customer-focused, and profitable.Support the Food Truck Lead in achieving operational, quality, service, and financial objectives.Monitor food quality, inventory levels, food costs, labour costs, and service standards.Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and regulatory requirements.Foster collaboration between retail and food service operations to deliver a seamless customer experience.Support planning, implementation, and operational readiness for future café operations.Customer Experience & Community EngagementChampion exceptional customer service across all business areas.Respond to customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints professionally and effectively.Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, community organizations, suppliers, local producers, and business partners.Support community events, promotions, marketing initiatives, and customer engagement activities.Act as a positive ambassador for the organization within the community.Create a welcoming and memorable customer experience that encourages repeat business and customer loyalty.Financial AccountabilityMonitor daily, weekly, and monthly sales performance.Complete and review daily cash reconciliations and ensure bank deposits are completed accurately and on time.Maintain cash floats and ensure proper cash management controls are in place.Review operating results and identify opportunities to improve financial performance.Monitor labour, food, inventory, and operating costs.Support achievement of operational and financial objectives established by leadership.Ensure accuracy and accountability in all financial processes and reporting.Vendor & Supplier ManagementEstablish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, vendors, growers, and service providers.Coordinate purchasing activities and inventory requirements with department leads.Support sourcing opportunities that align with customer demand and organizational objectives.Monitor supplier performance and address concerns as required.Ensure consistent product quality and availability.Compliance, Safety & Risk ManagementEnsure compliance with all workplace health and safety, food safety, and employment standards requirements.Maintain safe, clean, and organized facilities and work environments.Conduct regular inspections and proactively address safety concerns.Ensure staff receive appropriate training and understand workplace expectations.Promote a culture where safety, accountability, and operational excellence are shared
