Apply & track with Apply EdgeOur client, an established, international alternative investment manager specialising in a range of alternative asset classes, including private equity, real estate, private debt, infrastructure and hedge funds.The Risk & Compliance Manager will join a London-based team, supporting the Head of Compliance and MLRO across compliance oversight, AML and financial crime controls, and the ownership and development of the UK operational risk framework. The role offers broad exposure across investment strategies and business functions, with a combination of advisory, oversight and hands-on responsibility.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct AML assessments and due diligence on investment opportunities, including screening, risk analysis, client onboarding and the review of potential financial crime concerns.Support the development and implementation of the compliance monitoring framework, policies, procedures and annual monitoring plan.Provide independent second-line oversight across investment, operational, finance and client servicing activities, challenging controls and escalating identified issues.Maintain and enhance the operational risk framework, including risk and control self-assessments (RCSAs), risk registers and key risk indicators (KRIs).Oversee operational incidents, losses and remediation activities, including root cause analysis, action tracking and management escalation.Advise management and employees on regulatory matters, deliver compliance reporting and training, and support governance and regulatory engagement.Key RequirementsDegree in Law, Finance, Economics or a related discipline; professional qualifications such as ACAMS or FRM would be advantageous.At least five years' experience in a risk or compliance role within an asset management, investment management or alternative investments environment.Practical knowledge of UK and Luxembourg regulatory frameworks, particularly those relevant to alternative investment funds.Experience across alternative investment strategies, ideally including private equity, real estate and/or hedge funds, with an understanding of fund operational processes.Strong understanding of AML, financial crime controls, compliance monitoring and operational risk management frameworks.Highly organised, proactive and detail-oriented, with strong communication skills, fluent written and spoken English, and an interest in using AI and technology to improve workflows.If you feel you are suitable and are keen to learn more about the role, please apply to this advert and a member of the team will be in touch if your background matches our clients requirements.
