- Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Certifications: Highly preferred professional credentials include PMI-RMP (Project Management Institute - Risk Management Professional), IRM (Institute of Risk Management), or ISO 31000 Lead Risk Manager.
- Core Competencies: Comprehensive understanding of FIDIC contracts, UAE construction regulatory policies, quantitative risk assessment (Monte Carlo simulations), and cost-impact forecasting.Experience Needed
- Industry Background: Minimum of 8 to 12 years of total experience in Risk Management for scale UAE construction or infrastructure projects.
- Proven Track Record: Experience mapping project delays, materials price volatility, subcontractor defaults, and executing Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) frameworks for multi-million-dirham turnkey developments.Department & Reporting Line
- Department: The role sits within the Corporate Governance, Legal & Compliance Department or directly maps into the Project Controls & Planning Division depending on whether the focus is corporate ERM or project-specific risk control.
- Reporting To: The Risk Manager typically reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Director of Project Controls, or functionally to the Group CEO (Eng. Ahmed Al Shamsi) and the board's Audit & Risk Committee.SubordinatesThe Risk Manager leads a specialized internal control unit typically consisting of:
- Risk Analysts / Project Risk Engineers: Professionals who track day-to-day schedule variations and contractual variations on-site.
- Compliance Officers: Professionals who manage adherence to UAE labor laws, environmental guidelines, and trade sanctions.
- HSE Managers / Officers (Functional Coordination): While Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) teams have their own vertical, they report data dots directly up to the Risk Manager regarding safety risks and asset liabilities.
