Job SummaryThe Road Inspector is responsible for inspecting, monitoring, and reporting on road operations and maintenance activities within Riyadh Municipality. The role involves verifying that road maintenance works are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved specifications, quality standards, project requirements, and municipal regulations.The Road Inspector will monitor road conditions, inspect maintenance activities, evaluate contractor and work-team performance, identify defects and hazards, and submit accurate daily reports to the Supervising Engineer.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct regular inspections of roads, streets, intersections, sidewalks, curbs, medians, and related infrastructure.Monitor road maintenance activities, including asphalt repairs, pothole patching, pavement rehabilitation, road marking, signage installation, shoulder maintenance, and minor civil works.Inspect drainage channels, culverts, manholes, and other road-related facilities to identify blockages, damage, flooding risks, or maintenance requirements.Verify that materials, equipment, and workmanship comply with approved specifications and quality standards.Identify and report road defects, safety hazards, damaged infrastructure, and urgent maintenance requirements.Monitor work teams and contractors to ensure that assigned activities are completed safely, efficiently, and within the approved schedule.Ensure proper implementation of traffic management, work-zone protection, warning signs, barricades, and personal protective equipment requirements.Conduct visual inspections and, when required, record measurements, quantities, locations, and photographic evidence of completed or defective works.Verify the completion and quality of corrective and preventive maintenance activities.Ensure work areas are kept clean and that construction debris, waste materials, and unused materials are removed promptly.Coordinate with the Supervising Engineer, contractors, municipal representatives, and relevant stakeholders regarding site activities, safety issues, and maintenance requirements.Prepare and submit accurate daily inspection reports covering work progress, manpower, equipment, materials, site conditions, defects, incidents, and outstanding issues.Follow up on reported defects and confirm that corrective actions have been completed satisfactorily.Support emergency inspections and respond to urgent road-related issues, including flooding, pavement failure, damaged signs, and hazardous conditions.Monitor the performance of work teams and provide feedback regarding productivity, workmanship, discipline, and compliance with safety requirements.Assist in the training and development of inspection and maintenance personnel as required. QualificationsMinimum of a diploma in Civil Engineering, Road Construction, Construction Technology, or a related discipline.A technical certificate or diploma in civil works, road maintenance, surveying, or a related field is preferred.A valid Saudi driving license is mandatory.Good knowledge of road maintenance activities, work-zone safety, and basic construction practices. ExperienceMinimum of 5 years of experience in road maintenance, road construction, civil works, or a related field.Proven experience inspecting roads, asphalt works, pavements, drainage systems, road markings, signage, or related municipal infrastructure.Experience supervising or coordinating maintenance teams and contractors.Experience preparing daily inspection reports and documenting site conditions.Experience working on municipal, infrastructure, or roads operations and maintenance projects is preferred.Required SkillsStrong knowledge of road inspection, maintenance, and repair activities.Ability to identify pavement defects, drainage problems, safety hazards, and construction-quality issues.Ability to read and understand basic drawings, specifications, work orders, and method statements.Knowledge of road-work safety, traffic management, barricading, and personal protective equipment requirements.Strong observation, inspection, and problem-solving skills.Ability to monitor work progress and evaluate the performance of work teams.Good written and verbal communication skills.Ability to prepare clear and accurate daily reports, checklists, and photographic records.Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, email, and digital reporting systems.Ability to work outdoors, conduct frequent site visits, and respond to urgent maintenance requirements.Strong commitment to quality, safety, discipline, and compliance with municipal requirements.
