Apply & track with Apply EdgeJob DescriptionIT Engineer – Automation & RoboticsPosition SummaryThe IT Engineer – Automation & Robotics is responsible for supporting, implementing, and maintaining manufacturing automation systems, robotics, industrial networks, and smart factory technologies across pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities. This role partners with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Validation, and vendors to ensure reliable, compliant, and efficient production systems while driving digital transformation initiatives.Key ResponsibilitiesAutomation & Manufacturing SystemsSupport and maintain manufacturing automation systems, including PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, industrial PCs, and robotics.Assist with installation, configuration, testing, and commissioning of new manufacturing equipment and production lines.Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network-related issues affecting manufacturing operations.Coordinate system upgrades, migrations, and lifecycle management for automation platforms.Ensure high system availability to minimize production downtime.Robotics & Smart ManufacturingSupport robotic systems used in manufacturing, packaging, and material handling.Collaborate with Engineering to implement automation and robotic solutions that improve productivity and reduce manual processes.Evaluate and recommend new automation technologies aligned with Industry 4.0 initiatives.Participate in digital manufacturing projects and continuous improvement initiatives.Industrial Networking & InfrastructureConfigure and support industrial Ethernet networks, managed switches, firewalls, and secure remote access solutions.Maintain connectivity between manufacturing equipment, servers, databases, and enterprise applications.Support virtualization platforms and manufacturing servers.Monitor network performance and implement improvements to ensure system reliability.IT Support for ManufacturingProvide onsite and remote technical support for manufacturing systems and production equipment.Diagnose and resolve issues involving desktops, thin clients, printers, barcode scanners, label printers, and industrial workstations.Support Windows operating systems, user accounts, Active Directory, and manufacturing applications.Coordinate with vendors and internal IT teams for issue resolution and preventive maintenance.Compliance & ValidationEnsure systems comply with FDA, GxP, GMP, and 21 CFR Part 11 requirements.Support validation activities, including IQ, OQ, PQ, and system documentation.Maintain system documentation, SOPs, change controls, risk assessments, and validation records.Participate in audits and regulatory inspections by providing technical support and documentation.Project ManagementLead or participate in automation and infrastructure projects from planning through implementation.Coordinate activities with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Validation, and external vendors.Develop project schedules, monitor milestones, and communicate project status to stakeholders.Identify risks and implement mitigation plans to ensure successful project delivery.Continuous ImprovementIdentify opportunities to improve manufacturing efficiency through automation and technology.Standardize processes and implement best practices across manufacturing sites.Support data collection and reporting initiatives to improve operational performance.Stay current with emerging automation, robotics, and smart manufacturing technologies.QualificationsEducationBachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical field.Experience5+ years of experience supporting manufacturing IT, automation, or industrial control systems.Experience with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, robotics, and industrial communication protocols.Experience supporting Windows Server, Active Directory, virtualization, and industrial networking.Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other regulated manufacturing environments is preferred.Technical SkillsPLC platforms (Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, or equivalent)HMI and SCADA systemsRobotics and automated manufacturing equipmentIndustrial networking (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus TCP)Windows Server and Active DirectoryVMware or Hyper-V virtualizationSQL databasesMicrosoft Office 365Remote support toolsBackup and disaster recovery conceptsSoft SkillsStrong analytical and troubleshooting skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teamsStrong organizational and project management skillsAbility to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environmentWillingness to provide after-hours and weekend support when requiredIf this position is for your pharmaceutical manufacturing sites, I can also tailor it specifically for Amneal's Automation & Robotics IT Engineer role by including SCADA, MES, PLC, HMI, vision systems, and packaging equipment support while keeping Track & Trace completely excluded.Top of Form
