This is a unique opportunity to join a growing U.S. R&D organization and play a pivotal role in defining the company's U.S. robotics strategy, advancing product development, and building the foundation for future robotics capabilities and teams.The Robotics Systems Engineering Lead will serve as the senior U.S.-based robotics technical leader, partnering closely with global engineering teams to evaluate the current state of the robotics program, identify opportunities to accelerate development while maintaining rigorous quality standards, and drive execution of key technical initiatives. This individual will provide leadership in robotics systems architecture, controls, system integration, and technology strategy, ensuring the robotic platform delivers safe, reliable, and clinically meaningful performance.In addition to providing hands-on technical leadership, this role will be responsible for developing recommendations to expand U.S. robotics capabilities, leveraging internal resources, external partners, and industry expertise to achieve business objectives. The successful candidate will bring deep knowledge of the U.S. robotics ecosystem, a strong strategic mindset, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, global development environment. As the U.S. robotics organization grows, this leader will play a key role in defining team structure, recruiting talent, and building a high-performing robotics engineering capability that supports future commercialization efforts.Location & Travel RequirementsThis position offers flexibility for remote work within the United States.The successful candidate will be expected to travel approximately 30% of the time, including regular visits to our Minneapolis office and international travel to support collaboration, development activities, and key business objectives.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute the U.S. robotics strategy to accelerate the advancement of Genesis MedTech's global robotic platform while maintaining rigorous quality and performance standards.Assess existing robotics capabilities and recommend organizational, technical, and resource investments to support future growth and commercialization.Build and lead a robotics systems team to establish and implement requirements to ensure design outputs are successfully integrated into effective system designs for optimal clinical performance.Build team capabilities and organizational capacity aligned with business growth with start-up mindsetWork closely with internal cross-functional teams and external partners including marketing, regulatory, quality, preclinical and clinical teams to ensure system quality.Lead algorithm development and optimization to ensure consistent performance across robotic systems and instruments.Design metrics and benchmarks to quantify system/visualization/instrument performance.Lead system-level test design and validation efforts for robotic systems, visualization and instruments across the development lifecycle.Perform root cause analysis for test failures and support debugging of cross-domain system issues.Maintain comprehensive documentation for test plans, system validation reports, and performance assessments.Up to 30% travel (domestic and international) is required.QualificationsRequiredBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.8+ years of experience developing robotic, mechatronic, or complex electromechanical systems.Demonstrated technical leadership in the development of complex robotic systems, medical devices, or other highly regulated products.Experience designing, developing, and integrating robotic control systems.Experience integrating hardware and software components within complex electromechanical systems.Demonstrated sound engineering judgment and strong technical problem-solving skills.Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement and deliver results with minimal direction.Ability to operate independently and effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.PreferredLeadership experience developing technically complex products from concept through product development and commercialization.Demonstrated technical leadership in developing and executing strategies for complex robotics or medical device programs.Experience building and scaling engineering teams and technical capabilities in startup or high-growth environments.Experience leading and developing technical teams.Proven track record of launching commercially successful medical devices.Experience in regulated industries; prior FDA interaction experience is highly desirable.Advanced Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.Pay range and compensation packageBase Salary Range: $140,000- 250,000 annually. Actual compensation will be based on factors such as experience, qualifications, skills, geographic location, and business needs.
