Robotics & Advanced Autonomy EngineerLocation: Kingston, Ontario, CanadaEmployment Type: Full-TimeWork Mode: On-site / hands-on engineeringBuild the Next Generation of Autonomous Industrial SystemsWe are looking for a Robotics & Advanced Autonomy Engineer to join our team in Kingston, Ontario.This is not a traditional controls or automation position.You will be working at the intersection of industrial robotics, autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), intelligent control systems, machine vision, motion planning, and advanced automation — taking systems from concept and integration through commissioning and real-world operation.You will be the kind of engineer who enjoys getting both software and hardware working together: configuring a robot, wiring and commissioning a control system, tuning motion, debugging communications, integrating sensors, and then watching the system operate autonomously on the floor.What You'll DoDesign, integrate, program, commission, and troubleshoot AMR and autonomous robotic systemsIntegrate and deploy industrial robots, cobots, robotic cells, and automated material-handling systemsDevelop and configure robot control systems, PLCs, HMIs, motion control, safety systems, and industrial networksWork with autonomous navigation, localization, mapping, path planning, obstacle avoidance, and fleet coordinationIntegrate LiDAR, cameras, machine vision, proximity sensors, encoders, safety scanners, and other sensing technologiesDevelop interfaces between robots, PLCs, production equipment, databases, MES/ERP systems, and facility infrastructureCommission robotic and automated systems in real operating environmentsDiagnose complex problems spanning electrical, mechanical, controls, networking, and software layersDevelop and improve autonomous behaviours and robotic decision-makingBuild simulations, test environments, and digital representations of robotic systems where appropriateDevelop tools and software to improve system monitoring, diagnostics, data collection, and fleet performanceParticipate in the complete engineering lifecycle — concept → prototype → integration → commissioning → optimizationDocument systems, controls architecture, operating procedures, and technical solutionsWork directly with customers, operators, technicians, and other engineers to solve real-world automation problemsThe TechnologyDepending on the project, you may work with:Robotics & AutonomyAMRs / AGVsIndustrial robotic arms and cobotsAutonomous navigationMotion planningMulti-robot coordinationRobot fleet managementManipulation and material handlingControls & Industrial AutomationPLC / HMI systemsServo and motion controlVFDsIndustrial safety systemsIndustrial Ethernet and fieldbus networksRobot controllersMachine-to-machine communicationsSoftware & IntelligenceROS / ROS 2Python and/or C++Robot APIs and SDKsComputer visionSensor fusionSimulationPath planning and autonomyData acquisition and telemetryIntegrationCameras and vision systemsLiDAR and 3D sensingRFID / barcode systemsMES / ERP interfacesIndustrial databases and APIsEdge computing and connected automationYou don't need to be an expert in every technology.
