As a robotics engineer, you will work closely with other members of the engineering team to develop, test, and implement robotic and autonomous systems and algorithms for marine and ground applications. You should be able to work collaboratively with other team members and should be able to work independently with accountability. A strong understanding and experience with the fundamentals of robotics and autonomous systems is a must to succeed in this role.ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop robotic system architecture for Robotic and Autonomous systems such as UGVs and USVs.Develop and optimize algorithms for autonomous functionalities, machine learning, sensor fusion, perception, path-planning, motion planning, and localization.Design, develop, optimize, and integrate control, planning and decision-making systems as well as sub-systems for autonomous platforms.Integrate various payloads onto autonomous vehicles and vessels.Collaborate with inhouse and third-party multi-disciplinary teams for development and integration projects.Simulated and real-world testing of prototypes and new features or products.CAD design of components such as mounts or small mechanical parts for robotic systems.Mechanical and software calibration of actuators and sensors.Manage development projects including updating project management documentation.Conduct occasional field testing and/or integrate systems and subsystems.Stay updated with the latest advancements in the field of robotics and autonomous systems to recommend and/or implement new techniques and technologies into projects.RequirementsGood understanding of the components that make up an autonomous system including sensors, actuators, networking, and algorithms.Experience with autonomous platforms. Ideally UGVs and USVs.Strong passion for robotics, programming, problem solving, and iterative developments of hardware and software.Strong background in one or multiple of the following areas: Path and Motion Planning, Sensor fusion, image and video processing, data compression, localization, and state estimation.Strong knowledge and experience with Python and C++.Familiarity with robotic simulation tools such as Gazebo and Unreal Engine (or Unity)Experience or familiarity with ROS.Understanding of communication protocols like CAN (preferably NMEA2000), TCP/IP, etc., that are commonly used in robotics.Experience with different types of active and passive sensors such as LiDARs, Radars, Cameras, etc. that are commonly used in robotic and autonomous systems.Ability to work on or manage multiple projects at the same time.Able to work both autonomously and collaboratively as well as switch between them depending on the current project.Additional Preferred SkillsSoftware development of Windows applications and/or web applicationsFamiliarity and/or experience with PCB design and manufacturingEmbedded system design and programmingFamiliarity with CAD modeling and different prototyping and manufacturing techniques including 3D printing, CNC machining, Laser cutting, Sheet metal, etc.Qualifications:Bachelor in Mechatronics, Robotics, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Engineering, or similar.A Master's degree in Robotics or Mechatronics is a big plus.Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience. Any additional relevant work is a big plus.Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English is a must.Proficiency in MS Office and other document creation tools.Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
