The team is developing robotic platforms from the ground up, bringing together mechanical systems, electronics, sensors, controls and software to create highly capable physical robots. They are now looking for a Robotics Technician to support the hands-on build, integration and testing of advanced robotic hardware. This is a practical, workshop-based role for someone who enjoys working directly with hardware. You'll be assembling components, building and modifying fixtures, preparing electrical harnesses, troubleshooting systems and helping identify design issues before they become larger reliability problems. The RoleYou'll work closely with engineers to turn mechanical and electrical designs into fully integrated, working robotic systems. The role will involve a combination of mechanical fabrication, electrical integration, testing and troubleshooting. You'll need to be comfortable working from drawings and schematics, using workshop and diagnostic equipment, and making iterative improvements as the hardware develops. This is an opportunity to work directly with cutting-edge robotic hardware within a fast-moving engineering environment.Key ResponsibilitiesCarry out precise mechanical and electrical integration of robotic systems, including harness routing, PCB soldering, cable crimping and component installation.Assemble and integrate mechanical and electrical components in line with engineering drawings and specifications.Identify mechanical, electrical and design issues during assembly and testing, feeding findings back to engineering teams.Build and modify custom mounts, fixtures and test rigs to support development and testing.Support the construction and integration of complete robotic platforms as components and subsystems become available.Troubleshoot hardware and electrical systems using structured, automotive-style diagnostic methods.Read and interpret wiring schematics, mechanical drawings and basic CAD layouts.Carry out rework and modifications as designs evolve through iterative development.Document builds, modifications, faults and test results clearly, including photographic evidence where required.Maintain organised workshop and build areas, ensuring tools, components and equipment are properly managed.Follow appropriate health, safety and workshop procedures.Work independently with a high level of attention to detail while maintaining a strong quality standard. What We're Looking ForWe're looking for someone who is hands-on, technically capable and comfortable working directly with complex physical systems. You'll ideally have:Practical experience in mechanical fabrication and electrical/electronic assembly.Experience working with wiring harnesses, connectors, crimping, soldering and cable termination.Confidence reading and interpreting wiring schematics and mechanical/layout drawings.Experience using hand tools, power tools, multimeters and other workshop/diagnostic equipment. The ability to interpret basic CAD drawings and layouts.A methodical approach to fault finding and troubleshooting.Experience working through iterative builds, modifications and rework.Strong attention to detail and a commitment to clean, reproducible build processes. The ability to work autonomously in a fast-moving engineering environment.Previous experience in robotics, automotive, industrial equipment, advanced manufacturing or a similar hands-on engineering environment.Desirable ExperienceExperience with any of the following would be advantageous:CAN bus communication and basic protocol/diagnostic analysis.Chassis, vehicle or large-scale mechanical/electrical integration.Robotic systems or electromechanical assemblies.Torque specifications, tolerance stack-up and structural integrity checks.Building prototypes, fixtures or test equipment.Working within a startup or R&D environment where designs and processes evolve rapidly.Experience taking engineering concepts or drawings through to physical hardware.
