Main Duties:-Supporting the Lead Rolling Stock Engineer in project delivery by providing expert technical advice and support with regards to rolling stock to the wider project teamDefining and developing interface specifications to support the supplier designLiaising with the project controls team to determine schedules and monitor design progressEstablishing and maintaining adherence to project deliverables with respect to safety, quality, cost and scheduleAnalysing the rolling stock related RAMS performance against the client’s design specificationsAnalysing the rolling stock related operation and maintenance.Reviewing and approving the Design Build contractor’s rolling stock system and sub-system designs to ensure compliance with the client’s requirementsReviewing and monitoring the rolling stock design specifications and standards for all subsystems such as HVAC, door control, propulsion and control, auxiliary power, wiring, automatic train control (ATS), carbody, brakes, couplers ,gangway and bogiesOverseeing the assessment of differing train configurations, passenger capacity, interface problems and performance quantificationsCoordinating and monitoring the rolling stock related interfaces and integration with other disciplines such as platform screen doors, signaling, telecoms and power supplyConducting technical investigations or fault analysesConducting site visit and inspections to verify and monitor rolling stock works quality and progressEnsuring all reporting requirements, are met and maintain accurate records concerning rolling stock related data.Profile/Skills:-Mechanical / Electrical Engineering degree, diploma or professional qualificationMinimum 12 years mechanical engineering work experienceExperience of working on large, complex and multidisciplinary projectsCurrent or recent broad knowledge of the rail industrySignificant technical experience relevant to the design delivery of the mechanical aspects of rolling stockDemonstrable experience in the design of rolling stockStrong understanding of railway approvals, practices and standards including EN 50126, EN 50129, IEC 61133, IEC1287 and NFPA 130Strong understanding of railway approvals, practices and standards including UIC- 615, UIC-515, IEC 61133 and NFPA 130, EN12663,EN15827Railway interiors and paneling experienceWorking experience with Bombardier’s/Siemens rolling stockChartered Engineer statusKnowledge of rail communication concepts and principlesKnowledge of overhead traction power reticulation systemsStrong client-facing skillsExcellent English language skills (written and verbal)
