Safety Manager

Job OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Safety Manager to lead, develop, and enforce our workplace environmental health and safety (EHS) programs. In this role, you will establish a proactive culture of safety, ensure total compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA, DOT), and minimize workplace risks and liabilities.The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership abilities, deep regulatory knowledge, and a analytical approach to risk assessment and incident prevention.Key ResponsibilitiesPolicy Development & Strategic PlanningDevelop & Execute EHS Programs: Design, update, and implement health and safety plans, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Emergency Action Plans.Regulatory Compliance: Maintain full compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant local/national standards. Monitor updates in safety laws and adapt company procedures accordingly.Safety Culture Promotion: Lead initiatives to embed safety awareness and accountability across all organizational levels.Risk Assessment & AuditingInspections & Audits: Conduct regular site visits, risk assessments, and spot-checks of facilities, equipment, and field operations to detect hazards.Hazard Mitigation: Identify corrective measures for unsafe workplace practices or environmental hazards and follow up to ensure execution.Job Hazard Analysis (JHA): Write and review JHAs and safe work protocols for high-risk operations.Incident Management & ReportingInvestigations: Lead root-cause analyses (RCA) for all incidents, near-misses, illnesses, and injuries.Workers' Compensation & Claims: Manage worker’s compensation cases, liaise with insurance carriers, and coordinate return-to-work programs.KPI & Metrics Tracking: Maintain logs (e.g., OSHA 300 logs), compile accident reports, and track key performance metrics (TRIR, DART) to report trends to executive management.Training & OutreachEmployee Education: Plan, schedule, and deliver safety onboarding for new hires and regular mandatory training (e.g., HazCom, Lockout/Tagout, PPE, CPR/First Aid).Safety Committees: Establish and mentor joint health and safety committee members.Third-Party Management: Oversee vendor and contractor safety compliance platforms (e.g., ISNetworld, Avetta).Required Qualifications & ExperienceEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.Experience: 5–8+ years of progressive experience in a dedicated safety role (manufacturing, construction, logistics, or industrial environment preferred).Certifications (Preferred/Required):Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP)Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)OSHA 30-Hour Construction / General Industry CertificationFirst Aid / CPR / AED Instructor CertificationSkills & Core CompetenciesRegulatory Mastery: Expert knowledge of OSHA, DOT, EPA, or applicable regional safety statutes.Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to deliver engaging safety presentations to diverse workforce groups.Problem-Solving & Data Analysis: Analytical mindset capable of evaluating data trends and determining root causes.Leadership & Influence: Strong interpersonal skills to coach staff, resolve conflicts, and enforce policies firmly yet diplomatically.Work Environment & Physical DemandsMix of office environment and field/facility site visits.Occasional exposure to active construction/manufacturing sites requiring PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toe boots).On-call availability for response to critical safety incidents.
