Safety Officer

Job Summary:Responsible for implementing and monitoring occupational health and safety procedures at construction sites, ensuring compliance with company policies and safety standards, and maintaining a safe working environment.Key Responsibilities:Monitor compliance with health and safety policies and procedures at project sites.Conduct daily site inspections to identify hazards and unsafe practices.Ensure employees and workers properly use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).Identify and assess workplace risks and recommend appropriate corrective actions.Prepare and maintain safety reports, inspection records, and related documentation.Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and recommend preventive measures.Conduct safety inductions, toolbox talks, and awareness sessions for workers.Monitor compliance with safe work procedures, including working at heights, hot work, excavation, lifting, and confined spaces.Ensure that work permits are properly issued and followed where required.Monitor the availability and condition of fire-fighting equipment and first-aid facilities.Follow up on corrective actions resulting from inspections and safety observations.Coordinate with project managers, engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors regarding safety matters.Support emergency preparedness and evacuation drills.Report any safety violations or serious hazards to the relevant management immediately.Qualifications:Diploma or bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, Engineering, or a related field.Previous experience as a Safety Officer, preferably in construction or contracting companies.Good knowledge of occupational health and safety practices and standards.Strong communication and reporting skills.Ability to work effectively in construction site environments.Preferred Certifications:NEBOSHIOSHOSHA
