Safety Officer / HSE Officer

We are looking for an experienced Safety Officer / HSE Officer to join our construction team in the UAE.The ideal candidate will have hands-on construction site experience in the UAE, with strong knowledge of occupational health and safety requirements, site safety procedures, risk assessment, inspections and incident prevention.The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring site activities, ensuring compliance with approved safety procedures and UAE requirements, and promoting a strong safety culture across the project.Key ResponsibilitiesMonitor daily construction activities to ensure compliance with health and safety requirementsConduct regular site safety inspections and identify unsafe acts, conditions and potential hazardsEnsure workers and subcontractors follow approved HSE procedures and site safety requirementsPrepare and maintain risk assessments, method statements and other HSE documentationConduct toolbox talks, safety inductions and regular safety awareness sessionsInvestigate accidents, incidents, near misses and unsafe occurrences and prepare appropriate reportsRecommend and implement corrective and preventive actionsMonitor the proper use of PPE and ensure compliance with site safety rulesIdentify potential risks associated with construction activities and recommend appropriate control measuresCoordinate with site engineers, supervisors, subcontractors and project management regarding safety mattersMonitor high-risk activities and ensure appropriate permits and control measures are in placeMaintain records of safety inspections, observations, incidents, training and corrective actionsAssist in emergency preparedness, drills and response proceduresEnsure proper housekeeping and safe working conditions across the construction siteSupport the implementation and continuous improvement of the project's HSE management systemReport safety violations and follow up on corrective actions until closureRequirementsMinimum 2 years of hands-on Safety/HSE experience in the UAE construction industry is mandatoryBachelor's degree/diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science or a related fieldNEBOSH, IOSH or other relevant HSE certifications are preferredStrong practical knowledge of construction site safety procedures and risk managementExperience conducting site inspections, toolbox talks and safety inductionsGood knowledge of risk assessments, method statements and permit-to-work systemsExperience handling incident/accident investigations and preparing HSE reportsStrong understanding of PPE requirements and safe work practicesAbility to identify hazards and implement practical corrective measuresExperience working on large-scale residential, commercial or infrastructure construction projectsExperience dealing with consultants, contractors and subcontractorsFamiliarity with UAE construction safety requirements and practicesExperience monitoring high-risk activities such as working at height, lifting operations, excavation, scaffolding and hot worksGood communication and interpersonal skillsAbility to work independently and effectively coordinate with site teams and subcontractorsStrong documentation and reporting skillsWillingness to work in a site-based construction environmentBenefitsCompetitive salary based on qualifications and relevant UAE experienceOpportunity to work on challenging construction projectsProfessional and collaborative working environmentCareer growth and professional development opportunitiesExposure to multidisciplinary project teams and construction operationsCompany-provided employment visa and medical insurance, as applicableAnnual leave and other benefits in accordance with UAE Labour Law
