We believe in a responsible and safe mindset that takes care of our customers, products, and fellow employees.Job DescriptionThe Sales Application Support Engineer serves as a trusted technical advisor, partnering with Customers, Sales, Service, and cross-functional stakeholders to identify, validate, and deliver application-driven solutions that support business growth. By combining engineering expertise, customer insight, and hands-on problem solving, this role helps customers maximize the value of TOMRA technologies through application testing, machine demos, data analysis, troubleshooting, performance validation and technical consultation.Supporting both regional and global initiatives, the position plays a critical role in enabling new sales opportunities, advancing customer success, and ensuring TOMRA solutions perform effectively in diverse food processing environments.Primary Job FunctionsPartner with Sales Managers and customers to understand their products, processing challenges, and goals to define application requirements, and recommend TOMRA solutions that best meet customer needsServe as a trusted technical advisor throughout the pre-sales process, providing application expertise and engineering support to support new business opportunitiesConduct machine demonstrations, customer trials during sales presentations, and proof-of-concept testing in both TOMRA facilities and customer environmentsDesign, coordinate, and execute application tests to evaluate machine performance, validate solutions, and identify opportunities for optimizationAnalyze test and operational data, develop technical recommendations, and prepare clear reports that support customer decision-making and sales activitiesTroubleshoot, maintain, repair, and optimize sorting equipment to ensure accurate testing, demonstration results, and application performanceOwn and maintain application knowledge and machine performance standards, ensuring application packages, best practices, and performance documentation are available to support Sales, Service, and Customer Solution Delivery teamsCreate and maintain technical documentation, including application reports, test results, recommendations, training materials, and procedures to support customer projects and internal knowledge sharingSupport machine installations, commissioning activities, customer training, and performance validation when requiredProvide technical consultation and application support to internal stakeholders including Sales, Service, Project Management, Product Management, and Global Solutions teamsPartner with Global Solutions, Product Management, R&D, and Engineering teams to enhance application performance, identify product improvements, and develop innovative customer solutionsIdentify opportunities to improve machine performance, application outcomes, reliability, and customer value through creative problem-solving and engineering solutionsMaintain customer-ready demonstration and test environments, ensuring equipment is operating safely and effectively to support testing and sales activitiesBuild strong working relationships with customers and internal stakeholders through effective communication, responsiveness, and professional technical supportQualificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline required. Equivalent combinations of education, technical training, and relevant industry experience may also be considered2+ years of experience in Application Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Technical Sales Support, or a related technical field preferred. Recent graduates with a strong engineering foundation and demonstrated problem-solving capabilities are encouraged to applyExcellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present technical information to a variety of audiencesStrong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusted relationships with customers and internal stakeholdersStrong attention to detail and accuracy Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities with the capability to diagnose technical issues and develop practical solutionsExperience analyzing technical and operational data and translating to determine the best-fit solution for the end customerPrior experience conducting sales demos/presentations, trials, testing, commissioning, or customer training strongly preferredExperience supporting customer-facing projects in a technical, applications, or pre-sales engineering environment preferredFamiliarity with CAD, SolidWorks, 2D/3D drafting, or design softwareAbility to travel up to 50% of the timeMust have or be able to obtain a valid passport and be able to travelAbility and willingness to travel nationally and internationallyAdditional InformationPay BandFor U.S. applicants, in accordance with applicable disclosure requirements, the anticipated annual base pay range for this position is $67,047.47 - $100,571.20 USD annually.
