By joining, you become part of a transformative movement dedicated to shaping brighter futures and driving extraordinary outcomes for those we serve.What You Will DoConduct evaluation sessions with the students, using interviews, counseling sessions, interest and aptitude assessment tests, and other methods to evaluate and advise students, guardians, parents, and teachersCounsel individuals to help them understand and overcome personal, social, and/or behavioral problems affecting their educational, physical, social and/or emotional situationProvide crisis intervention to students when difficult situations occur at school or at homeHelp students prepare for their transition to the next grade levelConsult with and serve as a resource for students, guardians, parents, and teachers regarding the developmental needs of students, including determining priorities for students and their resource needsCollaborate with school staff and administrators to ensure that students are academically on grade levelFacilitate the integration of the guidance curriculum in the educational curriculaComplete written reports as needed or as requested by the PrincipalMaintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulationsParticipate in the evaluation and revision of the school guidance programAttend meetings, conferences, and in-service trainings to keep abreast of best practices and professional trendsIdentify cases of domestic abuse or other family problems and encourage students, guardians or parents to seek additional assistance from HCZ staff and/or outside professionalsProvide special services that teach students how to handle conflicts in their environmentConduct follow-up interviews with counselors to determine if their needs have been metPerform other duties as assignedSchedule Monday - Friday, 7:40 am - 4:00 pm10-month roleRequirementsWhat you will bringA valid NYS School Counseling Certificate (required) Dedication and commitment to the mission of HCZ Promise AcademyMust have strong organizational and communication skills, verbal and writtenAbility to work with parents, students, faculty, support staff, external government representatives, as well as school community groupsUnderstanding of different student maturity levelsAbility to help students gain awareness of their interests and abilities to help them manage their behavior and thinking processesUnderstanding of test construction and ability to interpret educational test dataKnowledge of grade test targetsability to evaluate student transcriptsExcellent oral and written communication skillsKnowledgeable of grade test targetsAbility to evaluate student transcriptsAbility to plan, organize, and implement meetings involving a variety of topics and personnelBenefitsWe're passionate about hiring outstanding teachers who are dedicated to helping our scholars thrive.
