School Psychologist – Job DescriptionPosition: School PsychologistEducation:Minimum Master’s degree in School Psychology, Psychology, Education, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.Specialist-level degree (Ed.S., SSP, CAS, CAGS, or Psy.S.) in School Psychology preferred/required where applicable.Completion of an appropriate supervised internship/field experience in a school setting. NASP's specialist standard includes a minimum 1,200-hour internship, including at least 600 hours in a school setting. Licensure/Certification:Must hold a valid state-issued School Psychologist license, certification, or credential appropriate to the state of employment.Must maintain the required license/certification throughout employment.NCSP (Nationally Certified School Psychologist) credential is preferred where applicable. Provisional or emergency credentials may be accepted depending on state and district requirements.

Responsibilities

Conduct psychological and educational assessments of students.Identify learning, behavioral, developmental, and emotional needs.Participate in IEP, 504, and multidisciplinary team meetings.Develop and recommend appropriate interventions and educational strategies.Provide individual and group counseling/support when appropriate.Collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, and other school professionals.Monitor student progress and provide recommendations based on assessment results.Maintain accurate and confidential student records.Support positive behavioral and academic outcomes.Follow federal, state, and district special-education requirements.Required Qualifications:Valid School Psychologist license/certification in the state of employment.Minimum graduate-level education in School Psychology or related field.Relevant school-based assessment and intervention experience preferred.Strong communication, assessment, documentation, and collaboration skills.Ability to work effectively with students, families, teachers, and multidisciplinary teams.
