OpenPore Activated Carbon serves markets across the globe, offering technically advanced and reliable solutions for diverse applications.Role Description The Scientific Researcher will work full time on-site at the Shoranur facility, contributing to research and development in activated carbon products and processes. Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and conducting experiments on coconut shell–based steam activation, analyzing material properties, and optimizing production parameters. The role involves documenting findings, preparing technical reports, and collaborating with engineering and production teams to translate research insights into scalable manufacturing practices. The Scientific Researcher will also support quality control, evaluate performance of virgin and value-added carbons, and stay current with scientific literature and industry standards to drive innovation.Qualifications Strong foundation in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, or a related discipline, with knowledge of carbon materials and adsorption processes.Hands-on laboratory skills, including experimental design, sample preparation, use of analytical instruments (e.g., BET, pore size analysis, spectroscopy), and safe lab practices.Data analysis and documentation abilities, including statistical analysis, interpretation of experimental results, and preparation of clear technical reports and presentations.Experience or coursework related to process development, scale-up, or industrial R&D in activated carbon, porous materials, or similar domains is highly desirable.Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field; prior research or industry experience in carbon products is an advantage.Effective communication skills, ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
