Guests enjoy live commentary, refreshments, and panoramic views of Dublin Bay and the surrounding mountains. The harbors are easily accessible by public transport, walking, or cycling, with options to bring bicycles on board.Role Description The Sea Captain role is a full-time, on-site position based in Greater Dublin, responsible for the safe and efficient operation of passenger vessels on Dublin Bay Cruises routes. Day-to-day tasks include navigating and piloting the vessel, overseeing crew activities, conducting safety checks and drills, and ensuring compliance with maritime regulations. The Sea Captain manages departure and arrival procedures, coordinates with harbor authorities, monitors weather and sea conditions, and adjusts routes as needed for safety and comfort. The role also involves providing a welcoming environment for passengers, supporting onboard commentary, and handling any operational or customer issues that arise during voyages. The Sea Captain is expected to maintain high standards of professionalism, safety, and customer service while representing Dublin Bay Cruises on the water.Qualifications Valid maritime captain’s license and required certifications for passenger vessel operations, with strong knowledge of coastal navigation and seamanship.Demonstrated experience commanding or serving as officer on similar passenger or commercial vessels, including familiarity with local waters in or around Dublin Bay.Proficiency in ship handling, route planning, use of navigation systems and charts, and monitoring weather and tidal conditions.Strong safety and emergency management skills, including experience with safety drills, passenger briefings, and regulatory compliance.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with passengers, crew, and harbor authorities in a clear and professional manner.Ability to lead and supervise crew members, foster teamwork, and maintain a positive onboard culture.Good physical fitness and the ability to work in variable weather and sea conditions for extended periods.Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and peak tourist seasons.Experience in tourism, hospitality, or customer-facing maritime services is an advantage.Knowledge of local attractions and interest in sharing information about Dublin Bay and its surroundings is beneficial.
