Seaweed FarmerRole DescriptionA Seaweed Farmer is responsible for cultivating, maintaining, monitoring, harvesting, and handling seaweed to ensure healthy growth, consistent quality, and efficient farm operations. The role performs daily seaweed farming activities in accordance with established cultivation practices, operational procedures, safety requirements, and production targets.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform daily seaweed planting, cultivation, maintenance, and harvesting activities.Prepare and maintain seaweed farming areas, cultivation lines, ropes, floats, anchors, and related equipment.Select, prepare, and attach healthy seaweed seedlings to cultivation lines or farming structures.Monitor seaweed growth, health, and overall farming conditions.Conduct regular inspections to identify damaged, diseased, or slow-growing seaweed.Remove unwanted materials, damaged seaweed, marine debris, and other contaminants from farming areas.Carry out routine cleaning, repair, replacement, and maintenance of seaweed farming equipment.Harvest mature seaweed according to established production schedules and quality requirements.Sort, clean, weigh, dry, and prepare harvested seaweed for storage, transportation, or further processing.Handle harvested seaweed carefully to maintain product quality and minimize damage or loss.Record daily farming activities, seaweed growth, harvesting quantities, and production information accurately.Identify and report equipment damage, environmental changes, disease, pest issues, or abnormal seaweed growth.Ensure farming activities are carried out in accordance with company procedures and operational standards.Properly use, store, and maintain farming tools, equipment, materials, and supplies.Coordinate with supervisors and farm workers to achieve daily and seasonal production targets.Assist with farm preparation, expansion, maintenance, and improvement projects as required.Follow all workplace safety, environmental, hygiene, and operational requirements.Maintain high standards of product quality, safety, productivity, and technical discipline.Support continuous improvement in seaweed yield, farming efficiency, product quality, sustainability, and overall farm performance.QualificationsMinimum secondary school education or equivalent.Previous experience in seaweed farming, aquaculture, fishing, agriculture, or marine-related work is an advantage.Basic knowledge of seaweed cultivation, aquaculture, or marine farming practices is preferred.Physically fit and able to perform manual work for extended periods.Comfortable working outdoors and in marine, coastal, or wet environments.Able to swim and work safely in or around water, where required.Ability to handle ropes, cultivation equipment, tools, and farming materials safely.Good observation skills and attention to detail.Ability to follow instructions and standard operating procedures.Good teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.Responsible, hardworking, disciplined, and willing to learn.Able to work independently as well as as part of a team.Willing to work shifts, weekends, public holidays, and extended hours according to operational requirements.Able to work in changing weather and demanding environmental conditions.Safety-conscious and committed to maintaining high standards of work quality and productivity.
