Secondary Bilingual School Counselor

INTERNATIONAL LEADERSHIP CHARTER MIDDLE SCHOOLSECONDARY BILINGUAL SCHOOL COUNSELOR The Bilingual Social Worker/Counselor will provide services and assistance to improve thesocial and psychological functioning of students and their families to maximize well-beingand academic functioning. The Social Worker/Counselor will assist parents and studentsat the International Leadership Charter Middle School to achieve social and academicgoals.Key Duties:

• Interview and counsel at risk youths, develop and maintain service plans; includinglong-term and short-term goals.
• Schedule and facilitate individual and group sessions. Facilitate weeklyleadership/conflict resolution workshops with participants. Incorporate leadershipand conflict resolution curricula into individual and group sessions.
• Maintain records and prepare reports. Maintain daily attendance, registration andcase referral logs.
• Counsel students whose behavior, school progress, or mental or physicalimpairment indicate a need for assistance, diagnosing students' problems andarranging for needed services.
• Consult with parents, teachers, and other school personnel to determine causes ofproblems such as truancy and misconduct, and to implement solutions.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Counseling and/or Social Work
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience
• Previous case management, assessment, counseling and crisis intervention preferred.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
• Strong communication skills required and strong interpersonal skills to work with school, students, parents and community-based agencies.
• Professional clinical experience with students and their families and a commitment to working with parents and students as partners in education.
