Secondary Design Engineer - Substation

⚡ WE ARE HIRING | SUBSTATION SECONDARY DESIGN ENGINEER📍 Location: Dubai, UAE🏢 Company: POWERCHINA JEPCC – MEA Regional Headquarters⚡ Sector: Power EPC | Transmission & Distribution | HV/EHV SubstationsPOWERCHINA JEPCC is looking for an experienced Substation Secondary Design Engineer to join our engineering team in Dubai and support HV/EHV substation projects across the Middle East & Africa.Candidates currently based in the UAE are strongly preferred.🔧 Key Responsibilities

• Perform secondary engineering and Protection & Control (P&C) design for HV/EHV AIS & GIS substations.
• Prepare and review Protection SLDs, P&C schematics, AC/DC diagrams, wiring & terminal diagrams, interlocking logic and trip matrices.
• Prepare and review cable schedules, I/O lists and signal lists.
• Develop protection schemes for power transformers, transmission lines/cables, busbars and feeders.
• Perform/review relay settings, protection coordination/selectivity studies and CT/VT calculations.
• Review protection and control panel designs and vendor technical documentation.
• Coordinate interfaces between protection relays, IEDs, BCU, RTU and SCADA systems.
• Support IEC 61850-based substation automation and protection interfaces.
• Coordinate with Primary, SCADA/Telecom, Civil and other engineering disciplines.
• Provide engineering support during FAT, SAT, testing and commissioning🎓 Requirements✅ Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering or a related discipline.✅ Minimum 5 years of experience in Substation Secondary Design / Protection & Control.✅ Hands-on design experience in HV/EHV substations, preferably 132kV and above AIS/GIS.✅ Strong experience in secondary drawings, protection schemes, control circuits, relay settings and protection coordination.✅ Good knowledge of IEC 61850.✅ Experience with Siemens, Hitachi Energy/ABB, Schneider, GE, SEL or similar protection systems is an advantage.✅ UAE/GCC substation, utility or Power EPC project experience is highly preferred.✅ Experience with DEWA, TAQA/TRANSCO, EtihadWE, SEWA or other GCC utilities will be an advantage.⚠️ IMPORTANTThis is a design-focused engineering position.Candidates should have substantial hands-on Substation Secondary Design and Protection & Control engineering experience.❌ Profiles primarily focused on Testing & Commissioning, Maintenance, Site Operations or standalone SCADA, without significant secondary design experience, may not be suitable.
