Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities) The Barbados High Commission in London, representing Barbadian political, economic, security and consular interests overseas, is seeking a Security Officer toprovide professional front-of-house reception services for the High Commission, located at 1 Great Russell Street, London (WC1B 3ND).The successful candidate will oversee and interact with visitors to ensure smooth day-to-day reception operations. The individual will possess strong communication andsecurity skills, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.

Roles and Responsibilities

Manage processing of visitors to the High CommissionOperate and monitor the Visit Management SystemConduct internal and external building patrolsMonitor CCTV, fire alarms, and emergency systemsAssist with high-profile diplomatic and evening eventsReceive and route items delivered to the High Commission.Essential SkillsClear speaking and writing skills to brief officials and report threats;Quick thinking to handle sudden crises or incidents;High levels of stamina, strength, and agility;Security Industry Association (SIA) qualification and First Aid at Work training;Cultural awareness to work well with diverse groups.Desirable Skills & ExperienceAbility to learn and speak other languages;Experience working for a diplomatic mission; experience or knowledge of working in an international environment;Prior work in police, military, or investigative roles.Hands-on experience in threat assessment or asset protection.SummaryApplication deadline - 25 September 2026Start Date - 5 October 2026Grade - Security OfficerType of Position - Full-timeHours of Work - 08:30 to 18:30Number of vacancies - 1Type of remuneration - Wages / weekly - £700.72Annual remuneration - £36,437.44Applications may be sent to London@foreign.gov.bb or by regular mail to:Head of ChanceryBarbados High CommissionP.O.
