Security Officer

Hyatt Regency Nairobi is looking for professional, vigilant and service-oriented Security Officers to join our Security team. Working within an international luxury hospitality environment, you will play a critical role in protecting our guests, colleagues, hotel property and assets, while ensuring that security is delivered with the professionalism and discretion expected of a world-class hotel.We are looking for individuals who are naturally alert, disciplined, observant and dependable, with the ability to remain calm and professional in both routine and emergency situations.THE ROLEAs a Security Officer, you will:Maintain a visible and professional security presence throughout the hotel.Conduct regular patrols of guest areas, back-of-house areas, perimeter areas and other designated locations.Monitor access points and ensure appropriate access control procedures are followed.Monitor CCTV and report suspicious activity or security concerns.Respond promptly and professionally to incidents, emergencies and requests for assistance.Assist with emergency response, evacuation procedures and security drills.Maintain accurate security logs, occurrence books and incident reports.Support investigations and preserve relevant information or evidence when required.Monitor guest, colleague, contractor and visitor movement in accordance with hotel procedures.Support the protection of hotel property, equipment and assets.Assist with crowd control, events, VIP movements and other high-occupancy situations.Enforce hotel security procedures while maintaining a courteous and service-focused approach.Work closely with other hotel departments to identify and address potential security risks.Maintain strict confidentiality regarding guests, colleagues and hotel operations.Carry out all other security duties assigned by the Security Supervisor or Security leadership.REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONSCertificate or Diploma in Security Management, Criminology, Police Studies, Risk Management or a related discipline from a recognized institution.Minimum 2–3 years’ relevant security experience.Previous experience within a hotel, luxury hospitality, corporate, commercial or similarly demanding environment is highly desirable.Experience with an international hotel or hospitality brand will be an advantage.Previous Hyatt experience will be highly advantageous.Knowledge of basic security procedures, access control, incident reporting and emergency response.Basic computer literacy.Strong verbal and written communication skills.THE PERSONYou will be:Alert and highly observant.Disciplined and reliable.Calm under pressure.Professional and well presented.Courteous and service-oriented.Physically fit and capable of extended periods of standing and walking.Comfortable interacting with guests, colleagues, contractors and visitors.Able to follow procedures while exercising sound judgement.A team player with a strong sense of responsibility.Comfortable working rotating shifts, nights, weekends and public holidays.Demonstrably trustworthy and committed to confidentiality.WHAT WILL SET YOU APARTIf you have experience in international hotels, luxury hospitality, CCTV operations, emergency response, investigations, access control, VIP protection or major events we would like to hear from you.
