Summary of PositionThe Security Operations Specialist is an armed professional accountable for the continuous safety of principals, family, and assets. Operating between multiple Security Operations Centers and the field, the Security Operations Specialist anticipates, identifies, and resolves threats through proactive intelligence work, disciplined use‑of‑force decision making, and rapid incident leadership, while maintaining seamless coordination with EP teams, law enforcement, and critical vendors.Responsibilities:Provide personal security services to principals, family members, and their properties, including residences, offices, other assets, and at public eventsWhile working in a Security Operations Center, regularly conduct patrols to detect and prevent security breachesOperate jointly with partner Security Operations Centers and absorb/handover tasking and ownership of duties to maintain balanced coverage during evolving incidentsOperate, troubleshoot, and stay current on deployed security technologies (CCTV, access control, intrusion and alarm systems)Detect potential threats via vigilant monitoring of existing security architectureProvide access control, interact with, and monitor vendors and contractors at all designated sitesObserve, report, appropriately identify, and investigate all suspicious, unusual, or significant objects and activityGenerate required incident and intel reportsRespond promptly to alarms and emergency situations, act as on-scene incident lead until relievedRender necessary medical aid prior to handoff to EMS (e.g. Tourniquet, CPR, AED...etc.)Carry and deploy an exposed firearm in accordance with California BSIS permit, company policy, and use of force lawConduct daily information gathering operations on designated subjects and disseminate information using OSINT and specialized databasesSupport Executive Protection Specialists operating in the field with live relevant security, logistical, and traffic information. Update Executive Protection Specialists as conditions evolveCreate operations plans and compile emergency contacts for trips undertaken by the principalsFamiliar with defensive applications, use of lethal and less-lethal assets, and appropriate application when necessaryLead or assist Program Leads in management of various security assets and initiativesCoordinate with law enforcement and other security professionals as neededMaintain a high level of confidentiality and discretionStay up to date on the latest holistic security technologies and techniquesAugment Executive Protection Specialists in field operationsMust be able to safely operate a motor vehicle, execute evasive / defensive driving for principals, including route planning and counter-surveillance routesProvide training for new hiresOther duties as assignedSkills:Minimum of 3 years’ private security experience, or equivalent military and/or relevant educationDefensive tactics to include appropriate use of lethal and less-lethal toolsAbility to perform essential protective functions during and immediately following exposure to chemical agents, electrical stimuli, and other environmental stressors inherent to use of force situationsAbility to professionally interact with all levels of individuals in a courteous manner, and to de-escalate situations before they become hostile or unpleasantAbility to work independently and make quick sound judgment calls under pressureMust be well-groomed, charismatic, and possess strong interpersonal skillsGood oral and written English fluency requiredWillingness to work all shifts (day, evening, and overnight) and all days (weekends and holidays)Maintain safe weapon handling at all timesAssess threats rapidly and apply the approved use-of-force continuum, up to and including lethal force when warrantedEmploy de-escalation techniques before escalating to armed intervention whenever feasibleFlexibility to work on-call and irregular hours as neededBasic computer knowledgeProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite ProductsLifts, carries, drags, pulls and pushes objects and persons of varying weight and size; stands, walks and runs for extended times over various distances and conditionsMust successfully pass motor vehicle record checkMust be able to safely operate a motor vehicleMust be comfortable around animalsKnowledge, Skills, Experience, Requirements and Qualifications:Education - High School Diploma or EquivalentExperience Required - 3-5 Year'sCertifications Required – California Guard License, California Permit for Exposed Firearm, California Driver’s License, CPR/AEDTraining Required – Attend and fully complete Gavin de Becker & Associates’ Academy for Protectors, either prior to hire or within a timeframe determined at the Company’s discretionPhysical Fitness Qualifications Demands – Must pass a Human Performance Evaluation and Drug Screenings as a condition of employment, as well as on an annual cadence.
