Location: Thurrock, EssexRole: SEN Class TeacherSetting: Specialist ASD / SENAge Range: SecondaryContract: Full-timeStart: ASAPRibbons & Reeves are working with a specialist SEN setting in Thurrock seeking a dedicated Primary-trained Teacher to join their secondary provision.This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Primary Teacher who is looking to move into specialist education, working with pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and a range of associated additional needs.The RoleYou will teach a small secondary-aged class, using your Primary teaching experience to deliver engaging and accessible learning across a broad curriculum.The school takes a highly individualised approach to education, adapting lessons around pupils' abilities, communication styles and interests.

You will be expected to maintain high expectations while making learning accessible and meaningful.The role is particularly suited to a Primary Teacher who enjoys working across subjects rather than being restricted to a single secondary specialism.Alongside academic progress, you will support pupils to develop communication, independence, confidence and social skills, helping them prepare for their next stage of education and adulthood.The PupilsThe school supports pupils with ASD and additional learning needs, with some pupils experiencing anxiety, communication difficulties and barriers to traditional classroom learning.Strong relationships are central to the role. You'll need to be patient, consistent and able to understand individual behaviour and communication, while providing the structure and boundaries pupils need to succeed.We're Looking ForQTS with a Primary teaching backgroundExperience teaching across the Primary curriculumA genuine interest in working with ASD / SEN pupilsStrong differentiation and classroom management skillsA calm, patient and consistent approachSomeone confident teaching across multiple subjectsAn understanding of how to adapt learning for pupils with additional needsStrong relationship-building skillsSEN experience is desirable but not essential for the right Primary TeacherThis role would suit a Primary Teacher looking to make the move into secondary specialist education, particularly someone who enjoys teaching a broad curriculum and wants to develop their expertise working with pupils with ASD.
