Apply & track with Apply EdgeAs a Senior Accountant, you are responsible for overseeing the organization's day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records, and supporting timely financial reporting and statutory compliance. The role supervises accounting activities across the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, fixed assets, and month-end closing while providing guidance to junior finance team members.You play a key role in maintaining strong financial controls, supporting audits, improving accounting processes, and providing financial insights that contribute to effective business decision-making.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: -1. Financial Accounting & General LedgerMaintain and oversee the accuracy of the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers.Review and approve journal entries, accruals, provisions, and adjustments.Ensure all accounting transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance with company policies and accounting standards.Review balance sheet reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of outstanding items.Assist in maintaining the chart of accounts and accounting records.2. Month-End & Year-End ClosingLead the month-end and year-end closing process.Prepare and review financial schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.Ensure timely preparation of trial balances and financial reports.Review expense accruals, prepaid expenses, depreciation, and provisions.Coordinate with various departments to ensure timely submission of financial information.3. Financial ReportingPrepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.Analyse financial performance and explain significant variances.Support the preparation of management reports and dashboards.Assist the Finance Manager in preparing statutory financial statements.Provide financial information required for business reviews and management meetings.4. Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable OversightReview supplier payments, customer billing, and collection activities.Monitor ageing reports for receivables and payables.Ensure timely reconciliation of supplier and customer accounts.Support resolution of complex accounting and reconciliation issues.Ensure compliance with company payment terms and credit policies.5. Bank, Cash & Fixed Asset ManagementReview bank reconciliations and cash transactions.Monitor cash balances and support cash flow reporting.Maintain and review the fixed asset register.Ensure accurate capitalization, depreciation, transfers, and disposals of assets.Support periodic physical verification of fixed assets.6. Budgeting & Financial AnalysisAssist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts.Monitor budget performance and analyse variances.Support project costing, profitability analysis, and cost control initiatives.Provide financial analysis to support business decisions.7. Compliance & TaxationEnsure compliance with IFRS, VAT regulations, and statutory requirements.Review VAT calculations and supporting documentation.Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and controls.Monitor adherence to delegation of authority and approval procedures.Keep abreast of changes in accounting standards and regulatory requirements.8. Audit & Internal ControlsCoordinate internal and external audit activities.Prepare audit schedules and supporting documentation.Respond to audit queries and implement agreed recommendations.Review internal controls and recommend process improvements.Ensure financial records are complete, accurate, and audit-ready.9. ERP & Process ImprovementEnsure the accuracy and integrity of financial data within the ERP system.Support ERP implementation, upgrades, and finance automation initiatives.Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls.Develop and maintain finance procedures and documentation.10. Team Leadership &; SupportSupervise and guide Junior Accountants and Finance Executives.Review the work of finance team members to ensure accuracy and compliance.Provide coaching, technical guidance, and on-the-job training.Allocate work and monitor team productivity.Support the Finance Manager in developing a high-performing finance team.
