SENIOR ACCOUNTANT - OIL & GASPosition SummaryThe Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing and analyzing accounting activities across oil and gas operations, including month-end close, financial reporting, account reconciliations, revenue, joint interest accounting, and operational expenses. The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting skills, attention to detail, and experience working in a complex, multi-entity environment.Key ResponsibilitiesManage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules.Analyze general ledger activity and investigate variances between actual results, budgets, and forecasts.Support accounting for oil and gas exploration, production, development, and operating activities.Perform accounting for oil and gas revenue, royalties, production taxes, operating expenses, and capital expenditures.Assist with joint interest billing, joint venture accounting, working interests, and non-operated properties.Reconcile production volumes, revenue statements, owner statements, and general ledger balances.Prepare monthly financial statements and management reporting packages.Assist with fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, depreciation, and capital project tracking.Support impairment analysis, asset retirement obligations, and other complex oil and gas accounting matters.Ensure compliance with GAAP, company accounting policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.Assist with external audits, tax requests, and financial reporting requirements.Develop and maintain accounting processes and internal controls to improve accuracy and efficiency.Identify opportunities to automate and improve reporting and accounting processes.Partner with operations, land, revenue, FP&A, treasury, tax, and other cross-functional teams.Provide accounting analysis and recommendations to management on complex transactions and business activities.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.4–7+ years of accounting experience, preferably within oil & gas, energy, upstream, midstream, or related industries.CPA preferred.
