Purpose of the RoleThe Senior Accountant is a key member of the Finance team, responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity and timely reporting of NewBridge Pharmaceuticals' financial information. The role will take significant hands-on responsibility for the monthly, quarterly and year-end close, general ledger accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, audit support and financial reporting. The Senior Accountant is expected to operate with a high degree of ownership and independence, act as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders and external auditors, and support the Senior Accounting Manager and Finance leadership in resolving accounting matters from identification through to closure. The role should be a dependable go-to resource within the Accounting function and provide continuity and depth to the team.Required Competencies, Qualifications and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, together with a qualified or part-qualified Chartered Accountant / CA, ACCA, CPA, CMA or equivalent professional accounting qualification.Minimum of five years of relevant accounting experience, with demonstrated hands-on ownership of month-end and year-end close, general ledger accounting and balance sheet reconciliations.Experience dealing directly with external auditors, preparing audit schedules and financial statement support, and driving audit queries through to closure.Strong working knowledge of IFRS and experience in an MNC, regional multi-entity or similarly complex environment; pharmaceutical or healthcare experience is an advantage but not essential.Strong ERP capability, with SAP strongly preferred, together with advanced Excel skills and the ability to analyse and reconcile large volumes of financial data.Candidates who do not meet the requirements outlined above will not be considered. Please review the competencies carefully before submitting your application.Responsibilities & AccountabilitiesTake an active ownership role in the monthly, quarterly and year-end close, ensuring assigned areas are completed accurately and within reporting deadlines.Own key areas of the general ledger and maintain the accuracy and integrity of accounting records and supporting schedules.Prepare, review and post journal entries including accruals, provisions, prepayments, reclassifications and other period-end adjustments.Perform and review balance sheet reconciliations, investigate reconciling items and ensure timely clearance of outstanding balances.Review the trial balance and key P&L and balance sheet accounts to identify unusual movements, errors or incomplete accounting entries.Prepare monthly financial reporting schedules and provide clear explanations for significant movements, variances and non-routine items.Support the preparation and review of statutory and management financial statements in accordance with IFRS and NewBridge accounting policies.Act as a key accounting contact for external and internal auditors, preparing audit schedules and documentation and driving audit queries through to closure.Coordinate with Finance, Commercial, Supply Chain, HR and other internal stakeholders to ensure complete and accurate accounting, appropriate cut-off and timely resolution of issues.Reconcile intercompany transactions and balances and follow up with counterparties to resolve differences on a timely basis.Review key customer, vendor and distributor-related balances, commissions, recharges, accruals and provisions as part of the monthly close process.Support accounting for inventory and related transactions, including reconciliation of relevant inventory and hub accounts where required.Maintain robust supporting documentation for material transactions, accounting estimates and judgmental items.Apply IFRS and company accounting policies to routine and non-routine transactions and escalate significant accounting judgements with a proposed recommendation.Support VAT, Corporate Tax, transfer pricing and other statutory requirements by providing accurate accounting information, reconciliations and schedules to the relevant teams and advisers.Ensure the integrity of accounting data in SAP and compliance with established accounting, payment and financial control procedures.Investigate accounting and reconciliation issues independently, identify root causes and recommend practical solutions rather than only escalating discrepancies.Support budget, forecast and ad-hoc financial analysis where accounting input or historical financial information is required.Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize and automate accounting processes and improve the efficiency and quality of the month-end close.Develop and maintain accounting procedures, schedules and documentation to ensure consistency, knowledge transfer and business continuity.Provide guidance and support to junior members of the Accounting team and review work where delegated by the Senior Accounting Manager.Support the Senior Accounting Manager, CFO and Finance leadership with special projects, financial analysis and other ad-hoc accounting matters.Act as a reliable go-to person within the Accounting function, taking ownership of issues and following them through to a clear and timely resolution.
