The Senior Accountant manages day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, timely processing, and compliance with financial controls. The role supports closing, reconciliations, billing, collections, audits, and financial analysis while identifying risks and process improvements. The position requires strong ownership, accuracy, and independent follow-through with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

Financial Reporting and Closing: Lead the preparation and maintenance of accurate financial records, supporting schedules, monthly management reports, and financial statements, ensuring completeness and timely submission.Month-end and Year-end Processes: Take ownership of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, including journal entries, accruals, prepayments, balance-sheet reconciliations, and review of outstanding items.General Ledger and Reconciliations: Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and independently review bank, supplier, client, intercompany, and control-account reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies promptly.Accounts Payable and Receivable: Oversee the accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices, payment requests, supplier payments, client receipts, and related accounting entries in line with approval controls.Billing and Revenue Support: Manage invoicing across retainers, projects, and ad hoc scopes; coordinate with Client Services on billing instructions, purchase-order requirements, revenue recognition support, and invoice status.Collections and Working Capital: Maintain aged receivables and collections trackers, drive follow-up on outstanding invoices, resolve billing queries, and escalate material overdue balances or collection risks to the Finance Manager.Budgeting and Financial Analysis: Support budgets and forecasts, monitor actual performance against approved plans, analyse material variances and trends, and provide clear commentary and financial insights for management review.Commercial and Operational Finance: Maintain commercial, contract, renewal, and project-finance trackers; monitor financial obligations, approvals, and support documentation across vendors, contracts, and client engagements.Compliance and Internal Controls: Review financial transactions for compliance with accounting standards, statutory requirements, tax obligations, internal policies, delegated authorities, and established finance controls.Audit Coordination: Coordinate audit readiness, prepare schedules and supporting documentation, respond to auditor queries, and follow through on agreed audit actions and control recommendations.Process and Systems Improvement: Identify control gaps, recurring discrepancies, and process inefficiencies; recommend and implement practical improvements to finance systems, templates, trackers, workflows, and reporting practices.Stakeholder and Team Support: Provide responsive finance guidance to internal stakeholders, review work prepared by junior team members where assigned, and promote accuracy, accountability, and timely completion of finance activities.Additional Responsibilities: Prepare ad hoc financial analysis and reports and perform other related duties assigned by the Finance Manager in support of business requirements.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline from a recognized university.Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CA, CPA, CMA, or an equivalent recognized certification is preferred.Minimum 6 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including at least 2 years in a senior accounting capacity within a Business Setup or FreezoneDemonstrated experience in financial reporting, month-end and year-end closing, general ledger management, reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, billing, collections, budgeting support, audit coordination, and statutory compliance is required.
