Senior Accountant- Contracting

Position Title: Senior Accountant/ Chief Accountant- Arabic Candidates (with knowledge of English)Department: Finance & AccountsReports To: General ManagerJob SummaryThe Senior Accountant is responsible for managing the financial and accounting operations of construction projects and the company. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, project cost monitoring, budgeting, cash flow management, compliance with statutory requirements, and effective control of financial transactions related to construction activities.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Accounting & ReportingMaintain accurate accounting records in accordance with company policies and applicable accounting standardsPrepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reportsPerform general ledger reconciliations and ensure timely month-end and year-end closingMonitor accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliationsAssist in external and internal audits.Construction Project AccountingTrack project costs, budgets, commitments, and expendituresMonitor job costing and cost allocation for ongoing construction projects and report to GMPrepare project profitability and cost variance reports.Reconcile project costs with BOQ and budgets. Manage retention and advance paymentsReview subcontractor invoices, supplier payments, and project-related expensesEnsure proper accounting treatment of retention, advances, and progress billings.Budgeting & Cost ControlAssist in preparing annual budgets and project-specific budgets.Monitor project cash flows and forecast funding requirements.Analyse budget variances and recommend corrective actionsSupport management in controlling project costs and maximising profitability.Qualifications.Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.Looking for Arabic candidates (with knowledge of English).Immediate joiners are preferred.Professional certification such as ACCA, CMA is preferred5–10 years of accounting experience, preferably within the construction industryMinimum 5 years of UAE Experience in a contracting background.Required SkillsConstruction project accounting and job costing.Financial analysis and reportingBudgeting and forecastingVAT and tax compliance.Cash flow management.Attention to detail and accuracy.
