Location: LondonStrategy: Event-Driven Investments and Special SituationsAbout the OpportunityA leading London-based, sector-agnostic Hedge Fund is looking to appoint a Senior Analyst to join its investment team.The Hedge Fund focuses on opportunities arising from corporate events and market dislocations, applying rigorous fundamental research and disciplined risk analysis to mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructurings, asset disposals and other special situations across global markets.The successful candidate will research and evaluate event-driven and special-situations opportunities, combining detailed fundamental analysis with a thorough assessment of catalysts, transaction dynamics and downside risks.Key ResponsibilitiesIdentify and evaluate investment opportunities arising from M&A, corporate restructurings, asset disposals and other company-specific catalysts.Conduct detailed fundamental research across companies, industries and capital structures.Build and maintain comprehensive financial, valuation and transaction models.Assess transaction structures, strategic rationale, financing, regulatory considerations and execution risks.Analyse catalysts, event probabilities, timing considerations and risk-reward asymmetries.Develop independent investment views supported by clear evidence and well-structured analysis.Prepare concise investment memoranda and present recommendations to senior members of the investment team.Perform scenario, sensitivity and downside analysis to determine potential returns and capital at risk.Monitor existing positions, company announcements, regulatory developments and changes to the original investment thesis.Engage with management teams, advisers, industry specialists and other relevant market participants.Support the wider team with portfolio analysis and ongoing idea generation.Candidate ProfileThe Hedge Fund is interested in candidates from one of the following backgrounds:Tier 1 Investment Banking, currently operating at M&A Senior Analyst level.Required Skills and ExperienceStrong financial modelling, accounting and valuation capabilities.Excellent understanding of M&A transactions and corporate finance.Ability to analyse complex situations and identify the principal drivers of risk and return.Strong commercial judgement and intellectual curiosity.Independent thinking and the confidence to form and defend an investment view.Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely.High attention to detail and the ability to perform effectively in a demanding, fast-moving environment.Genuine interest in public markets, event-driven investing and special situations.Strong academic background from a leading university.Personal AttributesAnalytical, intellectually curious and commercially minded.Comfortable challenging assumptions and testing alternative scenarios.Disciplined and thoughtful when assessing downside risk.Proactive, self-motivated and capable of taking ownership of research.Collaborative and comfortable working within a focused investment team.Able to maintain high standards of accuracy under time pressure.
