To support this journey, we are looking for an experienced Senior Android Developer who is comfortable leading technical initiatives, mentoring developers, and influencing engineering direction while remaining actively involved in architecture, coding, code reviews, and SDK development.We are seeking someone who enjoys working closely with others to deliver high-quality, scalable mobile SDKs used in real-world environments. If you are motivated by building robust frameworks, collaborating across platforms, and contributing to technical direction beyond your own code, this role offers the opportunity to make a broad and lasting impact on our products, engineering culture, and long-term technology strategy.The RoleAs a Senior Android Developer, you will be a key contributor to our mobile platform, with a focus on building and evolving our Android SDKs. You will work closely with other SDK engineers, platform teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to ensure our mobile initiatives are cohesive, scalable, and well-executed.Your influence will extend beyond implementation. You will help drive alignment, contribute to architectural decisions collaboratively, elevate team-wide practices, and support an environment where the entire team can succeed.What You Will DoImplement new features in our existing Android SDK, written in a combination of Java and KotlinMaintain and improve the current SDK by fixing bugs and strengthening overall stabilityMigrate legacy code from Java to modern Kotlin, improving maintainability and performanceContribute to the development of new SDK versions, written primarily in Kotlin MultiplatformBuild and maintain binding layers that expose the native Android SDK to Flutter and React NativeOptimise map rendering and performance using Mapbox Maps and/or Google MapsCollaborate closely with teammates to ensure consistent architecture, shared ownership, and high engineering standardsWhat You Bring8–10 years of professional Android development experience, with deep expertise in Kotlin and Java and experience working within large, complex Android codebases.Strong Kotlin–Java interoperability expertise, including understanding of platform limitations, migration patterns, API design, and best practices for maintaining and evolving mixed-language codebases.Strong software engineering fundamentals and the ability to design, debug, refactor, and improve complex systems. UI and application development experience is valuable, but the primary focus is architecture, code quality, and technical problem-solving.Experience leveraging Agentic AI development workflows to accelerate software development, including tools such as OpenAI Codex or similar AI coding agents, with an understanding of how to effectively use AI for code generation, refactoring, debugging, testing, and technical exploration.Hands-on technical leadership experience, leading by example through high-quality code, architectural decisions, and technical ownership while mentoring and guiding engineers across the team.Ability to drive technical direction and influence engineering standards while remaining deeply involved in implementation and delivery.Key SkillsExperience with SDK / framework development, rather than app-only developmentStrong understanding of modular design and maintainable architecturesExperience with Kotlin Coroutines and structured concurrencyExperience with React Native and Flutter, including both app-side and plugin developmentHands-on experience migrating codebases from Java to KotlinExperience using AI tools and LLMs to support development workflows Programming Languages & ToolsStrong proficiency in Kotlin and JavaFamiliarity with Dart (Flutter) and/or TypeScript (React Native) is an advantageExperience with Kotlin Multiplatform is appreciatedDaily tools include Android Studio, Git, Jira, and ConfluenceWho You AreYou are a collaborative engineer who enjoys working on shared platforms rather than isolated features.
