This role is ideal for someone who enjoys tackling complex technical challenges, improving application reliability, and enhancing the user experience through high-quality mobile development.The successful candidate will play a key role in building new functionality, investigating production issues, and supporting Android applications that interact with connected healthcare and medical devices. Prior experience in the Healthcare, Life Sciences, Medical Device, Digital Health, or other regulated environments is essential.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain native Android applications using modern development practices.Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues reported from production environments.Perform root cause analysis on application defects, crashes, and performance bottlenecks.Analyse logs, diagnostics, and monitoring data to identify and address application issues.Collaborate closely with QA, Systems, Product, Support, and Engineering teams to deliver effective solutions.Contribute to the development of new features while maintaining and enhancing existing applications.Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.Support testing activities, validation efforts, and release processes.Work across multiple initiatives simultaneously, balancing feature development, investigations, and technical improvements.Drive continuous improvements in application performance, stability, security, and usability.Required Skills & Experience5+ years of experience developing native Android applications.Strong hands-on experience with Kotlin and Java.Deep understanding of Android SDK, Android Studio, and Android architecture principles.Proven experience debugging complex Android applications in production environments.Experience analysing crash reports, application logs, and diagnostic information.Strong understanding of modern Android frameworks and technologies, including:Jetpack ComposeKotlin CoroutinesKotlin Multiplatform (KMM)Experience working with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) connected devices.Knowledge of secure mobile-to-cloud communication patterns.Experience with source control, CI/CD processes, testing frameworks, and release management.Familiarity with Agile development environments and tools such as Jira and Confluence.Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.Healthcare / Medical Device RequirementsPrevious experience working within the Healthcare, Medical Device, Digital Health, Life Sciences, or regulated technology sectors.Experience developing or supporting applications that interact with connected medical devices is highly desirable.Understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements within healthcare environments is preferred.Familiarity with FDA-regulated products, data privacy standards, or healthcare compliance frameworks is an advantage.Preferred QualificationsExperience supporting globally distributed engineering teams.Exposure to cloud-connected healthcare platforms and IoT solutions.Familiarity with secure mobile application development practices.Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools to improve productivity, code quality, and troubleshooting.What We're Looking ForWe're looking for a technically strong Android Engineer who combines excellent debugging and investigative skills with a passion for building reliable healthcare technology.
