Apply & track with Apply EdgeSenior Android EngineerBirmingham / Solihull | Hybrid – 3 days per week - upto £75,000I’m working with a well-known consumer brand that is investing heavily in its mobile engineering function and looking to add a Senior Android Engineer to the team.This is a genuinely hands-on senior role where you’ll be building and evolving high-traffic Android products, contributing to technical direction and helping raise engineering standards across a large mobile team.You’ll work closely with Product, Design, Backend, QA and other mobile engineers, with plenty of scope to get involved in architecture, technical decision-making and mentoring less experienced developers.What you’ll be doingBuilding and evolving native Android applications using Kotlin and Jetpack ComposeContributing to technical design and architecture across the Android platformWorking with modern patterns including MVVM, Clean Architecture and modularisationOwning features from initial design through development, testing and releaseImproving code quality, performance, reliability and maintainabilityContributing to automated testing and CI/CD practicesSupporting and mentoring other engineers within the teamWorking cross-functionally with Product, Design, Backend and QAHelping shape engineering standards and best practice across mobileWhat they’re looking forYou’ll ideally have strong commercial experience with:KotlinJetpack ComposeNative Android developmentMVVM and/or Clean ArchitectureCoroutines / FlowDependency injection such as Hilt or DaggerUnit and UI testingCI/CD and modern software delivery practicesGit and code reviewWorking within collaborative product engineering teamsExperience with Kotlin Multiplatform would be a bonus, but it isn’t essential.They’re particularly interested in engineers who are still very hands-on but are comfortable taking ownership, contributing to technical decisions and helping other engineers around them.Why it’s worth a lookYou’ll be joining a sizeable mobile engineering function with the opportunity to work on products used at serious scale, while still having plenty of influence over how things are built.There’s a strong focus on modern Android development, engineering quality and continuous improvement, rather than simply maintaining legacy applications.The role is hybrid from the Birmingham/Solihull area, with a minimum of 3 days per week onsite.If you’re a Senior Android Engineer looking for a role where you can stay hands-on, work with modern Android technologies and have a bigger influence on the wider engineering team, get in touch.Apply or message me directly for more information.
