Responsibilities include reviewing inquiries, selecting suitable equipment, coordinating with suppliers, preparing and reviewing technical proposals, and resolving routine technical matters independently.The role will serve as the main technical link between Sales, Proposal, manufacturers, suppliers, contractors and consultants, ensuring quotations are technically complete and accurate before submission to Management for final approval. Significant technical, commercial or contractual issues should be escalated when required.Key ResponsibilitiesReview RFQs, specifications, BOQs, datasheets, P&IDs, drawings and tender documents to determine application requirements and identify missing information.Coordinate with Sales, customers, consultants and contractors to obtain required technical details.Select and size pumps and related water/wastewater equipment based on flow, head, fluid characteristics, operating conditions, materials and project specifications.Review pump curves, duty points, hydraulics, NPSH, motor requirements, materials, accessories and overall equipment suitability.Handle applications involving: Submersible and dewatering pumps Sewage and wastewater pumps Centrifugal and process pumps Sludge and rotary lobe pumps Mixers and agitators Blowers and aeration equipment Other water and wastewater mechanical equipmentCoordinate with manufacturers and suppliers to obtain equipment selections, quotations, technical data, drawings, delivery information, certificates and clarifications.Support technical communication with customers, contractors and consultants during inquiry and proposal preparation.Review supplier quotations and selections for technical compliance, completeness and suitability.Identify deviations, exclusions, assumptions, exceptions, missing information and technical risks before submission.Evaluate alternative equipment or manufacturers and recommend technically suitable and commercially viable solutions.Support preparation of equipment selections, technical proposals, datasheets, compliance statements, technical submittals and supporting calculations.Provide the Proposal Team with accurate technical and supplier information for complete quotations.Review completed quotations and proposals with the Proposal Team before submission to Management for final approval.Verify that selections, quantities, accessories, specifications, supplier quotations, delivery requirements and supporting documents are complete and consistent.Support the Sales Team with technical queries and participate in meetings with clients, consultants, contractors and suppliers when required.Support technical handover of awarded orders to Procurement and Project/Execution teams, including review of manufacturer documentation.Provide technical assistance during site surveys, installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and after-sales support when required.Maintain organized records of selections, quotations, technical correspondence and project documentation.Expected Level of ResponsibilityThe Senior Applications Engineer should be capable of managing an inquiry from RFQ through equipment selection, supplier coordination and preparation of a technically complete proposal ready for Management approval.Routine technical matters should be handled independently. Management involvement should generally be limited to:Significant technical or application risksMajor specification deviationsWarranty or liability concernsStrategic supplier issuesSignificant commercial exposureFinal proposal approvalQualifications & ExperienceBachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.Preferably 4–7 years of relevant experience in Applications Engineering, Proposal Engineering, Technical Sales or equipment selection.Strong practical experience with pumps and pumping systems.Experience in water, wastewater, industrial or infrastructure applications.Strong understanding of centrifugal and submersible pumps, pump curves, hydraulics, flow, head, pressure, NPSH and operating conditions.Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, GA drawings, technical specifications, datasheets, BOQs and tender documents.Experience preparing or reviewing technical proposals, equipment selections, compliance statements and technical submittals.Experience communicating directly with manufacturers and suppliers regarding selections, technical clarifications and quotations.Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and manage multiple technical inquiries.Good written and spoken English with strong coordination skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office.Preferred ExperiencePreference will be given to candidates with experience working for a:Pump manufacturer or distributorWater/wastewater equipment supplierWater treatment companyEPC or engineering company dealing with pumps and mechanical equipmentUAE/GCC experience in the water and wastewater sector is preferred.Knowledge of pump selection software, AutoCAD or ERP systems is an advantage.A UAE driving licence is an advantage.Ideal CandidateWe are looking for an engineer who can understand the application, select the correct equipment, coordinate effectively with suppliers and the Proposal Team, resolve routine technical matters independently, and deliver technically complete proposals for Management approval.The successful candidate will become ECOTECH’s primary internal technical resource supporting the Sales and Proposal teams.
