Our work is rooted in a sensitivity to place, material, ecology, and cultural context, with a particular interest in the evolving architectural landscape of Saudi Arabia.We approach architecture as both a design discipline and a form of inquiry — exploring how buildings can respond meaningfully to their environments, communities, histories, and contemporary realities.We are looking for a Senior Architect to join our Riyadh studio and play a key role in the development and delivery of our growing portfolio of projects.The RoleThe Senior Architect will work closely with the Directors and design team across projects at different scales and stages — from early research and concept development through design development, documentation, and construction.We are looking for someone who is equally comfortable thinking, designing, coordinating, and making. The ideal candidate will bring strong architectural judgement, a high level of design sensitivity, and the ability to take responsibility for a project while contributing positively to a small and collaborative studio environment.ResponsibilitiesLead and develop architectural projects from concept through design development and delivery.Translate research, site conditions, client briefs, and contextual considerations into strong architectural proposals.Develop architectural concepts, plans, sections, details, material palettes, and presentations.Work closely with the Directors to establish and maintain the design direction of projects.Take ownership of project packages and coordinate their development across the studio.Coordinate with consultants, engineers, clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders.Develop and review architectural drawings and technical documentation.Ensure design intent is maintained throughout the development and delivery of projects.Contribute to project planning, timelines, deliverables, and design reviews.Participate in client presentations, workshops, site visits, and project meetings.Mentor and support junior architects and contribute to the development of the wider studio.Contribute to Syn's ongoing research and design culture where relevant.What We Are Looking For7+ years of professional architectural experience, preferably with experience in a design-led practice.A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture.A strong architectural portfolio demonstrating design thinking, spatial development, and attention to materiality and detail.Experience taking projects from concept through design development and, ideally, construction.Strong understanding of architectural drawing, detailing, materials, and construction.Ability to lead projects independently while working collaboratively within a small team.Excellent communication, presentation, and organisational skills.Strong design judgement and attention to detail.Proficiency in Rhino and/or Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and relevant visualization software.Experience working in Saudi Arabia or the wider GCC is highly desirable.An interest in Saudi Arabia's architectural landscape, material culture, ecology, and evolving built environment is highly valued.The PersonBeyond experience and technical skills, we are looking for someone who is curious, thoughtful, rigorous, and engaged with architecture.You should be comfortable questioning established approaches, developing ideas through research and making, and working across the boundaries of design, culture, and context.We value architects who care about how and why architecture is made, not only what it looks like.Why Join SynSyn is a small, collaborative practice where senior team members have meaningful involvement in the design process and the direction of projects.
